With the old SmartThings IOS app, I could use the IOS widget to activate scenes from my phone in its locked state. Super convenient! With the new app I have to unlock my phone just to dim the lights. Super annoying!
Samsung folks, if you really think this is a security issue, why not at least make it an option so users can decide if they want to allow the widget to require unlocking or not?
I thought I remember reading that Apple changed the functionality of widgets when it changed for Smartthings, requiring the app to open now, whereas it was able to run its scenes without opening the app in the past. I don’t know how accurate this is, but it is one of the many examples of decline in functionality of the iOS app as time as gone one.
