I have a bunch of old Aqara devices (bought them 7-8 years ago), and i’d like to know if any of them are still compatible with ST. I’ve been trying to add them without much success, but other people seem to enroll them just fine.
Motion sensor
Water sensor (that one i managed to make it work with MC driver)
Temperature sensor
Door/Window sensor
So before i throw them away, is there any way to make them work in ST?
Assuming you have a solid zigbee network you can get just about every aqara device to work with ST, HA or Google Home.
Within ST I currently have 16 aqara devices all registered without dropping. For devices at the edge of my zigbee coverage i leverage ikea plugs for zigbee repeaters. For example, the contact sensor labeled Dryer is at the edge of the z network with an ikea plug in between so signaling is not an issue.
On google home i currently use an aqara contact sensor plys a zone from the FP2 presence detection sensor to turn on six different Govee gaming lights, activate a fan via a switchbot button pusher and turn on my xbox via a script i wrote in Google Home Script Editor.
In ST i use a Zooz Zen15 power monitoring plug to send a notification via SmartThings when my washer is done. For the dryer i use an aqara contact sensor on the dial to send out a ST notification when the dryer finishes a cycle.
The point being, for the most part you can get just about anything working with anything assuming you have a stable delivery path.
I do have a solid Wigbee network, but I just can’t manage to add the Aqara sensors. Even if I try right next to the ST hub, it just won’t detect my door sensors or motion sensors.
Is there a specific driver you need to install first? Do you need the ST v3 hub? Or the Aqara hub?
@frederixxw , i use marianos drivers for my aqara devices: contact MC, motion sensor MC, etc. if a device is not identified, you can install zigbee thing Mc, get the fingerprint through AWA interface and request to Mariano to add the new fingerprint to the driver.
It won’t detect my door/window sensors. I’ve followed your steps. The only difference is the hub, I have the v2 installed. So you think using the v3 would help?
I couldn’t get the old Aqara/Xiaomi devices to work, so i tried one last thing.
Press 5 secs on each till they start blinking and as soon as they stopped, i press a single time every 1-2 secs. They were eventually all discovered by ST. So one long click, then a quick click every second (close to the hub to make sure).
Only had to do it on very old sensors as the newer ones were all discovered after the 5 secs click.
