Virtual Weather Tile?

While trying to set up a way to have lights turn on when I arrive home after dark I’ve seen some people mention a “Virtual Weather Tile”. I’ve tried searching and see mention of it in a few other threads but I can’t actually seem to find where/how to add it to my account.

1. Login to https://ide.smartthings.com
2. Go to devices tab (https://graph.api.smartthings.com/device/list)
3. Click new device button in top right corner (https://graph.api.smartthings.com/device/create)
4. Choose whatever you want for name and network id. Change type to SmartWeather Station Tile. Choose your location. Leave everything else alone.
5. Click create.

That should give you a functioning weather tile.

You can use the shared SmartApp “SmartWeather Station Controller”. It’s found under “+” > More > Convenience. This updates the weather tiles every hour.

Thanks! If I don’t install the SmartWeather Station Controller how often will the tile update? Or will it not update at all on its own?

hi i was trying to install the weather Tile. but i cant add location or Hub. do i need an ctual Device for this? thanks

Why dont you use the sunset variable in your automation?

I have seperate day and night modes configured that are triggered by sunset/rise.
