Vera to SmartThings Troubleshooting

Hi, I just purchased a new SmartThings (v3) hub to replace my Vera plus controller. My Vera stopped working and I can’t connect to is to remove my devices from it. How do remove each device separately or is there a way to remove them all at once? Thanks.

Hi and Welcome to ST! There’s not a mass removal tool in ST, but I suppose you could keep the General Exclusion process window open and just keep going from device to device; regardless, this will be a manual process for you, so hopefully you didn’t have a lot of devices, or devices in hard to get places.

Which mobile app are you using? Classic or the new app? That’s important to know because the Zwave utilities are in different locations, and you need to get to that to put the hub in a general exclude mode to “reset” your zwave devices.

In the new app, find your hub and open it. Tap on the three dots in the upper right corner and then tap on Z-Wave utilities. There you’ll find zwave exclusion. Once you start it, go to each device and initiate it’s exclusion process. For GE switches, and other switches, it’s as easy as turning on/off the device.

In the Classic app, tap on the “hamburger” menu on the upper left part of the app (3 horizontal lines). Tap on the gear next to your hub’s name. Scroll down to your hub. It should say ACTIVE and tap on it. Select Z-Wave Utilities, and then General Device Exclusion. Once you start it, go to each device and initiate it’s exclusion process. For GE switches, and other switches, it’s as easy as turning on/off the device.
