V3 hub steady blue, st says it’s online but…

configure wifi and unplug ethernet after

Configure how- it’s unreachable. As far as I know. Can’t remember how it’s been years.

Solid blue anyway. Not reaching smarttthings servers.

try soft reboot one more time with ethernet.

I did that. 1x on wifi and 1x on Ethernet.

(Flashing yellow should say strobe like yellow immediately after plugging power back on.)

Someone else mentioned the same thing with the crazy yellow flashing and he stopped there as well. Not sure if that was a problem.

did you change your dns servers from my 1st post. if you did, I am afraid you will need to wait for ST at this point.

No idea how I would even do this with eero mesh network connected to xfinity router. :frowning:

Edit: I was just responding to that, and saw that you had written same - we must be on the same wave length. I don’t know how to change the DNS servers.

At this point, I’ll probably crack open the new hub tomorrow and see what happens

I don’t know anything about xfinity. Is it in bridge mode or pass through and is it handling dns or eero… Hopefully someone else can assist you. But note: changing dns server may not have any effect.

I’m pretty sure it’s in bridge mode so that the eero wasn’t. Iirc

You can tell by my uncertain answers how long it’s been since I’ve had to deal with any of this stuff. It’s been working flawlessly for this long – 3+ years.

look on eero’s settings for dns

Please use the following instructions to change your DNS settings:

Open the eero App.
Tap on 'Settings', then Network Settings'
Tap on 'DNS'
From the DNS screen, tap on 'Custom DNS' down below instead of 'ISP DNS (Default)'
Input your desired IPv4 and/or IPv6 nameserver Addresses.

I provided IPv4 addresses above so hopefully you have IPV4 and not IPV6. If 6, just google ipv6 public dns server

Feel unsure why this would change tho. What is the purpose of doing this? Just to see if it connects to any network?

It’s OK… just wait for ST support

Mainly to future proof my investment. The V3 hub has a thread radio so it can be a Matter border router. Later I found out that the V3 hub has half the memory and half the CPU of the V2. I’ve since redeployed my V2 hub as a security system. I’m adding a bunch of Ring devices to it to replace my Nest Secure system that Google is going to brick next April. So, now I have two hubs and I’m moving some of my devices back off my V3 to my V2 if they pertain to security. I have them in the same ST’s location, so my automations will run across both hubs.

I’ll see if I can find the original article about the soft factory reset. I don’t blame you, I was desperate and went ahead and tried it since I was completely down. I’ve looked around today and haven’t stumbled on it again. I’ll keep looking.

No, I wasn’t being snarky. It was a serious question. What does changing that determine?

Oh thanks but don’t worry about it. JKP posted the method. Didn’t work for me. Boo.

Probably going to try the new hub in box and see if I can get that working.

If I ever get the other one working, I might actually use that as a secondary. I know what you mean about nest secure. I’m pissed about it too. I have five of their cameras and I will really miss the 24 hour recording with 60-day look back. A little off topic but you wouldn’t happen to know anybody else who has cameras that also have 24 hour recording with a 60 day look back on the cloud?.

The camera’s aren’t going away. Just the Nest Guard, the Nest Detects and the key fobs. I’m planning on keeping my camera’s since they integrate with ST’s.
I have the Nest x Yale locks too. I’m waiting to see if they ever fully integrate them into the Google Home app. I’m going to try and use virtual switches to trigger things in ST’s if they do. If not, that’s another $750 down the commode. The Yale Assure Locks with ZWave are about $180 right now, I’ve got 3 to replace if Google doesn’t finish migrating the locks. The Nest Protects are my biggest worry, those haven’t even been started to move, I did get an Ecolink Firefighter Listener and now have those “integrated” into ST’s.

No all the nest cams are going offline 4/7/24. Only google cams going forward.

If the aeotec doesn’t work I’ll probably have to. Let’s see what transpires tomorrow. Fingies crossed.

Here’s the announcement:

Starting April 8, 2024 , your Dropcam will no longer work. You won’t be able to use the Nest app to check the status of your Dropcam, view live streams, receive notifications, or change settings. Your Nest Aware subscription will not automatically be canceled.

Only the very first generation of Nest cameras, the “Dropcam” is being shutdown. All of the other Nest cams will continue to work. I’m keeping my Nest cams as they integrate with ST’s

Dropcam Support Announcement

Oh interesting. I thought it was all but the new white ones. Sadly doesn’t matter for me.

Do the black nest cams have 24/7 recording? The new white google cams do not.
