Using a open/close sensor or switch to turn off Siren

Hello everyone,

I’m still trying to find a way to get smartthings to work as my security system.

I want an easy way to turn off my siren if I accidentally set it off (open the door to let the dog out in the middle of the night and Mode set to “Arm”).

I have previously asked about getting the siren to beep for a couple seconds, then silent for 30 seconds (allowing me to turn it off) then go off but I was told that it is not possible (only thing available is a delay in SmartAlarm).

How about being able to get a open/close sensor to work double-duty and turn off my alarm? For example, if my alarm goes off I can open my basement door and the alarm turns off? (I’m sure an intruder won’t figure out to open my basement door)

Would I be able to configure a Virtual Device of some sort to turn off my alarm?

Would it be best to buy a minimote and program a button to turn off the alarm? (hide the minimote in a drawer)

Thanks in advance for any help!

FYI - my alarm is the Aeon Labs ZW080-A17

What Siren are you using? My siren, the SmartAlert Siren, shows up as a “switch” in the SmartLighting app, which then means I and turn it “off” with any number of triggers… including an open/close sensor.

Check that out and see if it works for you.

Thanks,

I am using a Aeon Labs ZA080-A17 and it also shows up as a optional “lighting control” in the Smart Lighting App. I always thought that it would simply turn off the strobe on the alarm and keep the alarm going but this might work. I will try this later today when I am back home and will advise. Thanks for the info!
