Use smartthings to play music on a google home or google mini

I am new to home automation,
I have a google home and mini and have a Samsung starter set. I can ask google to turn on a light so far that’s fine. What I would like is to setup a smartthings automation to play music on my google home/mini …ie play music via tunein when motion detector is activated at sunrise/time slot.

Requirement: When I get up in the morning the motion detector turns on the light (that works) and also plays music on the google home… Please let me know if this is possible.
many thanks

You can’t trigger voice or music directly to Google or Echo as of now

I really want this feature but unfortunately as of right now they don’t have it

Check this out [RELEASE] cast-web 0.1 - Chromecast Device Handler & SmartApps?

Haven’t tried it myself yet but it might do what you are looking for.

Also, tasker + sharptools + auto cast on an android device would work.

There was a fun thread a while back where someone placed speakers near echos and triggered them this way… this may work for you for google, too.

I can confirm this works. I can use it to remotely play music on my GH speakers.

Hello, Can you explain how you got this working?
Thanks

Follow the instructions here: smartthings

Afterwards, you can use the “Speaker Companion” smartapp to play sounds.

In my case, I installed the RELEASE Generic Media Renderer (DLNA Speakers). Cheap Sonos Alternative (Update V2) smartapp to trigger sounds or to render custom speech.

For playing particular online “stations”, I crafted URLs that follow the castweb URL scheme and saved those URLs presets as buttons. For example:

http://my.fakedomain.com:3000/setMediaPlayback?address=192.168.1.70:42929&mediaType=audio/mp3&mediaUrl=http://167.114.131.90:6100/;stream/1&mediaStreamType=LIVE&mediaTitle=Funky%20Radio&mediaSubtitle=Building%20a%20Stronger%20Future&mediaImageUrl=http://is1.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/Purple49/v4/6c/2f/94/6c2f946a-45d0-07e7-0e15-05cf07fe36a8/source/1200x630bb.jpg

When that URL is posted to the castweb server (http://my.fakedomain.com:3000), my Google Home speaker group (192.168.1.70:42929) is instructed to start streaming the specified mediaURL (http://167.114.131.90:6100/;stream/1).
