I am new to home automation,
I have a google home and mini and have a Samsung starter set. I can ask google to turn on a light so far that’s fine. What I would like is to setup a smartthings automation to play music on my google home/mini …ie play music via tunein when motion detector is activated at sunrise/time slot.
Requirement: When I get up in the morning the motion detector turns on the light (that works) and also plays music on the google home… Please let me know if this is possible.
many thanks

You can’t trigger voice or music directly to Google or Echo as of now
I really want this feature but unfortunately as of right now they don’t have it
Check this out [RELEASE] cast-web 0.1 - Chromecast Device Handler & SmartApps ?
Haven’t tried it myself yet but it might do what you are looking for.
Also, tasker + sharptools + auto cast on an android device would work.

There was a fun thread a while back where someone placed speakers near echos and triggered them this way… this may work for you for google, too.
Some of you may remember when I put the headphones on an Amazon Echo, so I could tell Alexa what to do or say through the house speakers. At that time Big Talker and Vlc Thing would whisper into Alexa’s ear and get her activated and talking. This project is an extension of that, where I’ve put speakers and microphones around my pool so I can talk to Alexa, listen to music, and hear any crucial announcements. I now use two Amazon Dots, they have a nice audio out jack. One dot is for inside the house, the other is for the back yard.

The microphones are inexpensive Shure 57 equivalents - DRI100… and they sound darn good. I connect them to an Art MX821S microphone mixer. If you turn up the individual mic volume half way, the mic works when your close like you see singers at c…
I can confirm this works. I can use it to remotely play music on my GH speakers.
