Over 50% of the way there now.
Let’s hope enough of this momentum carries on to get a fully funded and successful project!

Almost up to 80% of the way now.
Just a little shy of 40K out of the target 50K!
The press has been doing wonders for this.
For anyone still following this… They are 90% funded and added some stretch goals.
One of the stretch goals ($200,000) includes a Z-wave version.
The stretch goal at $100,000 includes some other hubs (Control4, Vera, Homey, WigWag, and most notably Philips Hue Light Link).
SmartThings integration is included in the original $50,000 project goal.
Goal of $50K has been reached.
Now we get to find out if they set the goal too low… still 36 days left.
What do you mean by “too low”? There are no substantive repercussions to setting a low goal. From casual observation, Projects that earn many times their “Goal Funding” are as likely or, I believe even more likely to fail or be delayed than those who just barely reach Goal…
Not that I don’t want to see FlipFlic’s backing increase substantially. I just don’t think there is a particularly useful correlation between the Funding Goal Amount and success (except that a too high goal may kill some Projects undeservedly and unnecessarily).
Am I missing your point?
I don’t mean to say that there is a direct correlation between a low goal amount and anything else happening. In crowdfunding, anything can happen whether your goal is high, low, or exactly where it should be.
I just don’t want to see them get into a situation where they have such a massive amount of orders from this (more than anticipated) and aren’t prepared to scale up the business accordingly. I don’t know if that will happen in this case.
But you said it yourself:
Reaching their goal with this much time left could put this project into that situation. Especially if there are a lot more press reviews coming in and hyping up the product.
Obviously, as a backer I am hoping for as much success for this project as possible. Even if I wasn’t backing the project, as a home automation enthusiast, it’s good for the market to see other devices making progress into our smart homes, especially those that fill a void. This definitely fills a void in the marketplace.
Hi guys,
I know this is an old post - but thought i’d ask the question here, how many here backed the campaign only to get nothing? I know there is risk with these things, and of course we all take that risk, but I’m genuinely interested in knowing whether we have all been duped or perhaps a competitor that specialises in cough proprietary motorised window coverings bought the project out…
With motorized window shades, there are potential safety issues related to kids, pets, etc. Automating motorized shades introduces even further risk.
If they have really delivered nothing after all this time, it’s entirely possible it’s because they have been unable to satisfy regulatory requirements in one or more countries that would make up their major market. Rather than because they just took the money and ran.
I didn’t back them, I don’t have any inside information or anything, just food for thought.
Exactly! The absence of comms just fuels the rumour mill!
