UPDATE: Recent SmartThings User Experience & Platform Performance

I wonder if angry emails from this Community to gregory.lee had anything to do with that? Sure got Alex’s attention.

So, things worked great for about 3 hours today. First time in 5 days for me.

However, it’s back to not being able to disarm… stuck in away mode. Please say you’re working on the issue and not thinking it’s fixed.

same here… didn’t auto-disarm when i came home even though notifications told me it executed. i couldn’t manually disarm either. frustrating.

Still broken. basic lighting controls are not working. I send command to cloud, cloud never sends commands back to my hub… this is maddening. this is not isolated to “alarms” or routine controls, it’s everything! I keep getting messages from days, even weeks ago, repeatedly… .

I see you just rolled out a new scheduler… I think we would all appreciate it if you stop making changes until this situation is fixed.

While I agree that focus should be on fixing the issues I am not sure how they go about that without making changes. It seems the new scheduler is a benefit from the information that has been disclosed, I think this points towards other issues rather than the scheduler unless the scheduler is not as robust as described however there was a known issue with the previous scheduler so it is good to get that fixed. Hopefully now the focus will be on trying to find these issues, I still have issues with random devices losing their connection and requiring that I edit the device and save it to get it working again, it is very annoying and hopefully that can be resolved soon.

From what I’ve seen (I believe since the leap day update that included “new security options”) SHM has just had a hell of a time moving to “disarm” directly from either of the “arm” states. Even trying to “disarm” manually after a false intrusion just gives an endless spinner.

However, if I manually choose the other “arm” state (i.e. pick arm away if I am stuck in arm stay), it will make that change and then will allow me to disarm. This seems to work every time for me. Which seems to point to a problem with logic rather than load to me.

@Motley is exactly right. The new scheduler is actually taking load off these current Cassandra databases. It is helping everything immensely

Thanks for the note. That workaround does the trick. If the status is away, I change it to stay, THEN disarm it. And yes, thst doesn’t sound like a load issue, but a code issue. I don’t expect devs to admit that though

OK, now, after about a week of leaving the damn thing alone for the most part, I finally decided to go into the ST app on my droid. I was very surprised to see that my HVAC thermostat was set to 135 degrees.

I thought, “OMFG!!!” What the hell?
Then I recalled the fact that I have a rule in Rule Machine that turns the temp of my water heater up to 135 in the morning or when we get home, etc.

So, GD! whatever the hell is going on at SmartThings is actually corrupting data in some very strange ways.

That does seem to work for me as well. After setting off lights and sirens twice in a row yesterday (3rd time they decided not to sound, but still had intrusion detected), I had a hard time disarming until I switched to Arm(Stay), then it would allow me to disarm.

@slagle Any status updates? Some of my motion sensors and contact sensors were showing odd statuses and setting off my SHM alerts, even though the system showed a “disarmed” status.

yep, had this today. I got a family member to rush to the house thinking the front door had been opened. Nothing.

Then all morning it was telling me my door has been opened and closed.

Not knowing Smartthings was having issues I had emailed support about our phones not showing the correct presence on our phones. Instead of support saying they are having issues and please bare with them, they suggested me to buy smartthings presence sensors. SMH.

great, now i cannot disarm shm.

My experience is proximity is working with only 1 device attached to the rules. When I have both my wife and my phone, the system stops working/sending notifications. But when i delete either one of us it starts working again.

Had the same experience this AM, checked in the app and it showed as being armed. Clicked disarm and it doesn’t do anything. :rage:

Pro tip: If a phone support person tells you they’re naked and asks you to get naked too, don’t do it. It’s a trap!

Had a rule switch out the lights it was controlling, reset it, and then it flipped back after a short while, reset again, and it stayed. Then this morning my front lock simply stopped talking back, I’m 30% sure that was a lock glitch, but who knows at this point.

I’m starting to think on a way I can use IFTTT to automatically tweet to @ahawkinson and @smartthings every time something doesn’t run right.

Of course, that assumes that ST would talk correctly to IFTTT…

Unable to Disarm Smart Home Monitor

For people not able to disarm SHM, the link above seems to be a viable work around for most people until it is fixed. Also note that the SHM alarm status may not show correctly. SmartTiles shows the status correctly and is getting the info directly from the API and so can you.
