Yes, until you get it successfully connected to the app with the needed security certificate… you will need to reset the hub. Once you do get it connected, you would never have to go through all the steps again.
where i can check if the hub got the security cerificate?
When it connects to the app and updates it’s firmware
Hopefully can assist with gathering the hub logs if you can’t get it connected
i have reset the hub and restarted the entire process. after removing hub from the app.
Blocked port 123 scan the QR code to add the hub in the app. went through updates stuck at 99% with solid blue light.
Reset the hub again, hub showing in app but the block is still active.
Remove the block nd see if firmware update to 59.x. The led light should change when downloading
yikes! I didn’t catch that. Solid blue indicates Hub is claimed and connected to the network, but has no internet or server connection.
So what can be done?
Staff are online Monday through Friday. Work with them to get the hub logs and from that they may be able to pinpoint if it is the security certificate or something on your network blocking communication.
I have the feeling the security certificate still has not updated on your hub yet. You may want to try connecting on a friend or family home network.
Thank you for helping. I have tried the process at my home and my parents home with the same results. its end up with solid blue light.
Not sure when/where you purchased it from… one option would return it and get your money back if possible. Then purchase another hub. That is just an option to consider. Definitely wait on staff to assist with getting the logs.
The hub is a few years old and was not in use, but I want to use it now. at the new place, I bought a couple of Z-Wave and Zigbee devices, but the hub doesn’t work lol. Thanks again.
Yeah, the expired security certificate has happened with a fair number of users. Some have been able to get it working, some have not. Patience is definitely required on this issue.
scroll through this thread… some users have reported the steps that resolved it for them.
I recently bought Aeotec Smartthings ( V3 Smartthings variant ) - was going through the same problem. Spent 3 hours trying to resolve the pairing problem and finally reached this thread. Realized I have to block the NTP. I connected the hub to the ATT router through ethernet port. I have to login to the ATT Fiber Gateway router and disable the NTP port.. I m attaching the screenshot of the settings for any one trying in future through ATT router.Rule 6 is the one I added and enabled.
Attached configuration helped me to add the hub.. Oof finally added the hub to my smartthings account.
Hi, brother, thanks for helping me to bring back the hub back online. as you suggested to follow some previous posts; users had luck with expired certificate hubs.
so what i have done
-
Add a block on the router (Asus router) under URL Filter deny list. Block ntp.org and the network services filter, and add port block 123. Make sure both are enabled.
-
remove hub from the SmartThings app
-
Reset the hub for 20-30 sec until the flashing yellow light becomes solid. Then let go of the reset pin.
-
Scan the QR code to set up the hub under the SmartThings app. The device should start downloading the update of around 115 MB.
-
After the download process, it starts installing the update. At this moment, I disable both the blocks created on the router URL deny list and the port 123 block on the router.
-
The installing process goes until 99%, stays stuck for a minute or two or more, and then the operation finishes with the hub shown as connected on SmartThings.
-
after 15-20 min hub was online with new firmware but the app was still at 99% i swiped up to cloed the app.
ALL DONE: The hub is updated. Thanks, JKP, and previous posts to information.
Exactly, there is no help from support. They simply ask to follow steps (NTP, etc.) that is it. They are not even helping to parse the logs and what it says basically. I am getting 33-303 during the onboarding process, which seems to be different than the 33-504. The hub is showing red-green but the app does not attempt to connect to it, instead it shows 33-303. The SSID from hub is password protected and the app/phone does not connect to it during the process even if I select Wi-Fi for onboarding.
Just spent 90 minutes preparing my new V3 router. Like how Vipun had summarized the steps above for my ASUS router, the observations mirror mine exactly.
What was terrible was scrolling through hundreds of posts to find the incremental steps which worked, which eventually was shown to be blocking http://ntp.org on ASUS’s URL filtering, and subsequently taking away the URL and port blocking right before the update finished installing.
It’s wild to me that the community had to grind out these steps month after month after month and even a year later it still wasn’t clear to me how to do it, and I had to go through the entire thread to find the right sequence.
That stared since they update the app
There a way to access your hub from SmartThing app home page click on the 3 dot on the right click manage hub then click on we’re it’s mark devices connected it will bring you to your hub
Same issue here - wtf how is this a thing!!! I cant access router settings since I use Deco which does not have ability to do the NTP block. What am i supposed to do ?? I cant return my hub as I bought second hand.
Hi, hope to get a DM to help me with this issue. I am on TP-Link Deco Pro mesh. I tried to use the Parental Control feature to block the websites, but it didn’t help. My Aeotec Hub S/N is 3021702465. I connect it to the main Deco node via Ethernet cable (I tried WiFi too). My old Samsung mesh router/SmartThings Hub is still connected and working fine (using the same SSID as my new TP-Link Deco router). Please help!
