With the release of Matter 1.3 in May 2024 (that now supports energy data), and SmartThings supporting Matter 1.3 since early October 2024, do these Tapo P110M plugs now transmit energy data in SmartThings without needing the Tapo cloud-to-cloud connection?

If I may ask one more question: Is it possible to create routines in SmartThings using the energy data from the Tapo P110M plug?

Not to my knowledge.

Unfortunately not.

Thanks for the response! Ah, that rules out my use case, as I need routines to be able to utilise energy data.

I use the Samsung Smartthings plugs for that, mostly using current watts to send me notifications.

I still have a number of Samsung ST Smart Plugs, but unfortunately, they keep failing on me - not a single one has lasted more than 5 months, and over the years, I must now be on over a dozen. You can read more about my experience in my thread: Samsung SmartThings Plug 2019 - Not Very Reliable.

Since 2021, every single one of these plugs have died, so I’ve been looking for alternative options that might offer better reliability. Just to note, I’m not using them for high loads; they’re only powering a laptop, docking station and external monitor during working hours (and I have few of these scattered around the house, for the exact same purpose, due to having a few family members working from home).

Regular purchase of these at an average price of £29.99 every time has got rather costly!

I did have some success with the Kasa KP115 (with the Edge driver: TP-Link Kasa Edge Driver (also LIFX)), however, they have not been in stock at Amazon for a very long time. Kasa Mini Smart Plug by TP-Link, WiFi Outlet with Energy Monitoring, Works with Amazon Alexa(Echo and Echo Dot), Google Home and Samsung SmartThings, Wireless Smart Socket (KP115) : Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools

I have never had a failure of those.

I think Tapo replace Kasa.

I believe matter does not natively support power usage yet, hence the cloud to cloud for the Tapo P110M (UK).
I might try these Onvis Matter over Thread plugs and hope energy monitoring is added later.

Also Innr make some which are zigbee with energy monitoring.

I have no idea if either of these will work for you.

Hello @Andrew_Bartlett!

I followed the steps you described, but unfortunately I still only see the power on and off in the ST and the power consumption monitoring is still not available. Do you have any ideas? Thanks
