ST Speaker to Replace Echo Dot - No Virtual Assistant Edition

I’m in the process of creating virtual switches to trigger a few wifi devices in my Alexa app directly from ST. I wanted to create a routine in the Alexa app that would play white noise on my Echo Dot when a switch is opened but my dot is no longer supported as a selectable device in the Alexa app. I’ve also noticed that the voice recognition to control my routines has degenerated over the last year or so, probably due to the device being unsupported.

Because of this, I’m looking to get rid of my Echo Dots completely and use the ST widgets on my phone to control my automations, but I still need a speaker that can integrate with ST to be able to continue using my white noise routine. I would prefer a speaker that is $100 or less and not have any Virtual Assistant integrated into it (no Cortana, Alexa, Google, etc.).

If such an option doesn’t exist, I’m open to any work arounds anyone has used including tablets connected to ‘dumb’ speakers through an aux cable, IFTTT connections, wifi adapters, etc. I have considered just using a white noise machine but I like the idea of being able to play other sounds or music as well. If you recommend one of those solutions, I’d appreciate any details on the integrations/devices you used to control it through the ST app. TIA!

Hmmm…

I would start by finding out why the Echo Dots that you already have aren’t showing up in the Alexa app, particularly since this is a change.

Mine do (I just checked) and I have multiple generations of them.

Have you checked with Amazon support?

I was able to get it sorted out with Amazon support. They had to force update some things on the back end but now I’m able to select which dot I want the audio to play from. Thanks for the suggestion!
