[ST EDGE] Z-Wave Sensor Driver Channel - including specific Ecolink, FortrezZ, HomeSeer, Monoprice and Zooz models

@RBoy , any chance you can comment on the above? The handler I was referencing was your Ecolink Flood and Freeze Sensor legacy handler.

I would try using non encapsulated communication for this devices. Not all devices work as they’re expected to using S2.

The logs provided show the devices were all included without security (encap=NONE).

Added support for the NEO Coolcam NAS-WS02Z leak sensor (fingerprint 0258-0100-1025), with all appropriate parameters.
This unit is also rebadged under other brands (Zipato NAS-WS02Z) but they may use their own manufacturer code/fingerprint so we’d need to add them later.

This 500 series water/leak sensor works great with S2 enabled, highly recommend pairing it by scanning the QR code or just enabling S2. They report battery level and water detection.

Tested under Hubitat as well, they are detected as a generic zwave water sensor with battery and leak detection by default.

The manual for the unit is available here: https://fccid.io/Z52NAS-WS02Z/User-Manual/15-NAS-WS02Z-UserMan-US-r1-4384664.pdf

Note that a seller on eBay in the US has these units new, 5 for $30 or 2 for $15. Lot Of 5 Z-wave plus water leak sensor LS100 (BRAND NEW) | eBay No batteries included, but they use common CR2 lithiums. I bought several sets to use and they work great.

HI, I m trying to add Ring Contact Sensor V2 - Model Number 5AT3S2A, FCC ID: 2AEUP5AT3S2A, IC: 20271-5AT3S2A into Samsung SmartThings Hub V2 currently running 000.059.00009. I tried all the steps mentioned in many forums - Every time I tried to pair either by scanning the QR code or Scan nearby device - Process just hangs when it tries to register. I tried removing the contact sensor using the utilities, but I m not able to get them added. I got 6 sensors, I tried 3 sensors so far. All of them are hanging at the final step.

I tried installing the drivers created by Milan or other community heros. Still failed miserably. Spent almost 2 days but never successful yet.

Please help me. Thanks

  1. Have you run exclusion on the devices before trying to install. If not run exclusion first.
  2. try pairing the devices right next to your hub.

Yep, Tried the exclusions and also kept the sensors right next to the hub. No luck with 3 sensors and tried opening a new sensor (4th) yesterday, same just hangs after I enter the 5 digit pin in the bar code

Is there any specific driver I need to add for these sensors? Also will there be any conflicts of I have multiple z wave contact sensor drivers install on the hub.

Drivers are not needed for pairing. They are only needed for operation, so a different driver won’t help.

Have tried pairing non-secure pairing (use scan nearby and skip to 5 digit code)?

Aah ok. Thank you for reply and clarifying that drivers are not necessary for pairing. Yes, I tried both the options of scanning the QR and scan nearby - both the options are hanging at the final step of pairing. Let me try removing those additional drivers and see if that makes any difference.

Hi @A_Sam ,

I don’t know what all you tried but you have to use the classic inclusion mode with the SmartThings hub. To get into classic mode, you have to hold the button on the Ring sensor for 3 seconds. I struggled for hours before realising it. After that, mine paired using “scan nearby” and is using the Milan edge driver. Remember to skip QRcode

Try it with a new sensor, you haven’t tried to pair before.

The below is from the manual:

“After powering on the device, press and hold the button on the front of the device for ~3 seconds.
Release the button and the device will enter Classic inclusion mode which implements both classic
inclusion with a Node Information Frame, and Network Wide Inclusion. During Classic Inclusion
mode, the green LED will blink three times followed by a brief pause, repeatedly. When Classic
inclusion times-out, the device will blink alternating red and green a few times.”

Thank you for your response. Yep, I tried that with new sensor. since I tried all the options I believe this is something to do with my hub. Is there any way to confirm the pairing works in the hub. Thinking about trying some other sensors and see if the hub is able to register any devices.

Is your hub Z-wave frequency and your Sensor Z-Wave frequency are the same ? If your hub was bought in Europe and your Sensor was bought in USA, you won’t be able to pair.

Yeah, Hub and Sensor were US certified. Since I m not able to pair any new devices, I m starting to think its a Hub issue. I m planning to get a new hub and try out. But only problem is I need to make sure the new hub is compatible with SmartThings app, so that I dont have to manage the sensors in a new app or system altogether.

Just in case you’re not aware: there are no new SmartThings hubs that support Z-Wave.

The newest hub model is the annoyingly named Aeotec Smart Home Hub 2 which is often called the V4 hub here. This model only supports Zigbee and Thread, no Z-wave

Aeotec is still selling the Smart Home Hub which is the Aeotec rebrand of the SmartThings 2018/V3 hub. It is the only SmartThings hub which supports Z-wave that is being sold as new.

Thank you for explaining the hub model differences. Yeah, I have not been tracking the changes happened in the hub models. I m looking to used hubs in marketplace and offerup, found few v3 hubs with z wave. Hopefully I get something sooner to test our my theory.

I dont want to try any other hubs specifically because I m so grateful for this community with the way people help here. Appreciate all the members who contribute and help.

I was reading through some threads in which it was mentioned that some v2 hubs never received updates due to some ota server changes. My current Samsung Smartthings V2 Hub firmware version is 000.059.00009

Is there a place I can confirm that this the latest and greatest firmware for the hub? I just enrolled for beta channel updates hoping that they can push some beta updates till I get hold of new hubs

59.09 is the most up-to-date non-beta firmware for the v2, v3, and v4 hubs.
