This is the exact problem that I’m having. I tried experimenting with it last night and discovered that the stuttering only seems to occur for notifications that are created via CoRE pistons. Even then it doesn’t occur all the time (maybe 7 or 8 out of 10 times).
If I create the same notification in “speaker notify with sound” smartapp, the stuttering did not occur. This was not the case just a few weeks ago as all my notifications were stuttering, regardless of what smartapp I used.
I’m thinking about going back and creating my notifications the old fashioned way (i.e., via “speaker notify with sound”) and just pausing the affected CoRE pistons until (hopefully) this is resolved. It is not ideal, but it will at least temporarily fix the problem.
I’ve attempted to attached the piston and the log from the living room Sonos (apologies in advance if it doesn’t come through or if not what you need - I haven’t done this before). This is a notification that plays when the good morning routine is executed. There’s nothing fancy going on (I don’t think), but it definitely will stutter. I think the Sonos is asked to play the notification once, but maybe I’m reading it wrong. I see that there is an app_command and also a command for play text and restore, but I have no idea if this is normal or not. Thanks!
I can’t seem to be able to replicate it. Mine just works ;( and according to the logs submitted above, the command is only given once. Can you please try with a longer text?
Weirdly enough my Sonos notifications have been behaving normally again. I didn’t want to jinx it (so really wanted to make sure) but I haven’t had a stuttering notification in two days. I didn’t make any changes in CoRE or SmartThings and also no network changes. Seems like the issue may have resolved itself for me, so hopefully it is working for others again.
I’m not using core and I don’t have problems with stuttering. My problems with my Sonos play 1 is that it stops working entirely within SmartThings after a couple of days after reinstalling my Sonos. I notice because my notifications don’t fire.
I then go to investigate in the smart things app and can see the last song I was listening to (started in the Sonos app) is stuck with no ability to pause and play.
This happens without fail every time and is deeply disappointing considering how much I love using notifications.
Has anyone heard of a problem that’s similar or had the same problem?. I was concerned it was the device handler but there’s no other option other than the Sonos connect.
I do have a similar problem as I discovered today. I have the Sonos soundbar hooked up to my TV and called “Living Room” on my ST hub. Any notifications going to this speaker stall it and don’t go back to the TV sounds, which is really an input like other audio from the Sonos app. If I direct notifications to other Sonos not attached to the TV and not playing anything from Sonos, then they will resume after an ST notification.
My first thought is the Sonos app isn’t communicating what the audio is to ST so ST doesn’t know what to do with a resume command.
