Not deliverable in Belgium…
This one is a BIG IF at the moment but watch for updates:
I saw them yesterday on my Android Phone, not on my iPad. Today they are gone.
Nest Protects in GH but not ST.
With my Google Nest smoke detectors I can start a test of all detectors from within the app. Also there is an automatically monthly test. Is there also something like that possible with the Frient detectors?
No, only that you can turn on the sirens to test them.
My frient smoke alarms wont let me make routines like this!
I use these.
First Alert ZCOMBO 2-in-1 Smoke Detector & Carbon Monoxide Alarm, Z-Wave Combo. These work well with my first gen hub, set up was as easy as scanning the QR code on device from ST app.
My only wish is to find one that has the escape light as well.
Are you using the Frient driver or stock ST? The latter does not expose siren switching.
I use the First Alert Z Combo smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, easy connect and work great with my ST hub.
You can just build the Automation/Routine/Rule like this:
IF
ANY of your smoke sensors detect smoke
THEN
command ALL of your smoke sensors to activate siren
Or, like mentioned above, you can orchestrate this same behaviour with the Smoke and Gas Section of your Smartthings HomeMonitor Service.
UPDATE: And I just saw, that there is a new-ish Aqara Smoke Detector in town, Zigbee & Matter protocols. Not sure though, if and how this one is compatible with Smartthings yet.
I can confirm: Using the frient EDGE driver (by frient), named:
“friend Water leak_Heat_Smoke_Siren”,
then you find and can use these device characteristics:
Why don’t Frient do a wired smoke detector ?! A wired smoke detector is a requirement of UK building regulations for all new build & extensions etc.
Difficult to understand why nobody provides a smart home solution that actually meets UK fire regulations. Apparently a significant number of fires go undetected because smoke batteries are dead.
Do they not research these things before they design a product ?
And is there anywhere you can actually buy the ZOOZ ZEN55 in the UK ?
The Zooz Zen55 is probably the wrong Frequency for the UK, since it is designed for the US market. Different regions and countries have different Z-Wave frequencies.
Yes your correct. My bad. Thanks
Found a statement about the Zooz Zen55 for EU use here at the bottom of the FAQ page…
https://www.support.getzooz.com/kb/article/1414-zen55-smoke-co-detector-bridge-faqs/
which says…
Is the ZEN55 available in EU Z-Wave frequency?
- The device is currently available in 908.42 MHz (US) frequency only. We do not currently have plans to release it in EU or AU frequency.
- The ZEN55 is not available in EU frequency at this time for a number of reasons:
- The ZEN55 is designed to be powered by 120V, which is standard in the US, while the UK standard is 230V.
- Additionally, the ZEN55 is specifically designed for US smoke alarms, and will not work with a UK smoke alarm. Frequency and voltage aside, engineering requirements for US smoke alarms and UK smoke sensors are different. They also have different signal pulse patterns, which will not be identifiable to the ZEN55.
Does anyone know of a similar input/current detection device that might serve to link a conventional wired and interlinked fire alarm into Smarthings ?
