I have a Smartthings Hub that has been working well with Philips Hue Motion Sensors using Edge Drivers that were mentioned here - * [Edge Driver] Hue Motion Sensor (No Hue Bridge). Many thanks to the author to come up with this.
I wanted to check, if there is any way I can control the devices’ (Philips Hue Motion Sensor) motion sensor ability based on the Security mode in Smartthings app. For e.g. if the Security mode is set to HOME, then don’t track motions.
Thinking with frequent motions sensed, the battery might not last for long? Any comments or feedback on this would be grately appreciated.
If you have a Hue Bridge and you connect your motion sensor to ST via that (and using blueyetisoftwares excellent driver) you have ability to turn motion sensor on/off with routines but not if it´s directly connected to ST.
According to my own experience battery life on Hue sensors is superior compared to many other sensors and can easily last a 2-3 years, even if you don´t turn them off, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it but that of course always depends on individual circumstances.
