SmartThings is getting worse every day; I think it's a total failure now

​There is no way to add a Moes matter wired gateway. I’ve tried using a code, a QR code, and I’ve followed all the threads on the forum, but the error 05-300 keeps appearing. Honestly, SmartThings seems to get worse every day.

​I had previously managed to install it, but the devices associated with the Moes hub suddenly disappeared. I tried to reinstall the hub, but it has been impossible.

​I’m encountering more and more problems with SmartThings daily and am considering migrating to another platform after more than ten years of use. You have taken what was one of the best home automation programs in the world and turned it into an absolute mess.

​You’ve managed to drive away the best developers in the community, even though they were the only ones who made something worthwhile with the “new” SmartThings—not to mention the old version, which was far better. It’s clear that the new concept of Edge Drivers and the programmers in charge of the project have been a complete and utter failure, whether due to laziness, incompetence, or simple stupidity.

​As users, we have been more than patient with a support team that never solves anything; on the contrary, they seem to make things more complicated. I will never buy another Samsung product again.

​To the rest of the users, I wish you all the best, but my patience has run out. I’m not willing to put up with so much incompetence and negligence any longer.

​I’d like to know what platform the great community developers like Mariano Colmenarejo, Taustin, and many others have moved to so I can follow their lead. If anyone has information about this, I would greatly appreciate it.

The current version of SmartThings is very aesthetically pleasing, but it’s an absolute rubbish.

I expect they use Home Assistant as many others do.

Have you considered it’s a Moes (Tuya) issue? They are known to have a lot of bugs with Matter integrations, they have a forum with devs constantly creating new firmware updates or patches on demand when users report issues.

The fact that automations were cloud-based in the old times was a reason to not consider it for me. Edge comes with limitations, although many are inherited from the rigid capability system that hasn’t evolved in years and makes it hard to adapt to new features, but at least it’s local which is more reliable and fast.

I have both an iHost hub and the Moes gateway connected via Matter on my V3 hub. The Moes has suffered several disconnections, while the iHost has remained stable, so I’m inclined to think the issue lies with Tuya. Also as @Paul_Oliver noted, connecting the Moes is challenging—only by following his thread here was I able to get it working, using both my iPhone and SmartThings installed on an old Samsung tablet for the QR code.

In my experience, making the Matter connection is still not the simplicity it should be across all platforms.

EDIT PS 58.7 update this morning threw the Moes off for a short while (it’s only handling 3 devices) while the iHost (70+) didn’t notice it.

My Tapo Matter bridge has been rock solid too and never had issues adding it, it’s been completely maintenance free for a year or more. I would quickly notice any issue because the motion sensor goes through it and I would get upset if the light doesn’t turn on :sweat_smile:.

Many buy Tuya devices, sometimes even fake clones from unknown sellers, because they’re cheap but that’s just looking for problems like random fingerprints that make drivers not detect them correctly -which by the way would happen in Home Assistant too since their libraries also use fingerprints for many devices-. In fact, that’s sometimes the issue with their own Matter bridge, they need to include the fingerprints for every device and hence the constant need for patches.
