Well it will likely be closer to this time frame if the below is true:
Reddit link
Grrrā¦ I canāt wait that long to be off of cloud based processing.
weāre talking before Christmas THIS year, 2015, correct?
I saw that link when it popped up a few days ago. Just to clarify what youāre seeing there - the āDate Availableā is just the date that the FCC has for when they can release those documents. Itās not a date we provided them for when the hub will be available for sale.
Sooooo, does that mean it will be before or after that date then? Letās start a pool of over under
Since thatās RIGHT at the end of Q3, Iām guessing youāre suggesting it would be released sooner than the 26th of September then, right?
<snark on>
Frankly, I could wait another year for Hub V2 if I was granted the power to stop the āare we there yet?, are we there yet?, are we there yet?, ā¦ā messages.
Of courseā¦ I guess I can just block this thread from my stream, but Iām betting another Hub V2 release date Topic will show up under āNewā before long.
Or should I just believe in the magic of Christmas and Santa Claus and the musical joy of children with āvisions of smarthubs dancing in their headsā?
</snark off>
Ahem. Sorry ā¦ hope yāall get the joke, no disrespect intended.
Sorry, Iām too lazy to read all 749 messages in this thread. Can someone please tell me when itās going to be released?
The consensus appears to be sometime before Christmas 2016.
They should start taking pre-orders so they know how many to order for a first run.
Thatās why I recommended a signup page it could easily give an indication of how many people are interested.
Also, Iād like to point out that many of us here are not yet enjoying the pleasures of owning a SmartThings Hub. I, for one, refuse to buy something knowing it will be replaced within a few months. So knowing when itās coming is a bit more important to us newcomers. And someone up high did mention something about early Q3, so that leaves room for speculation/anticipation.
I think that would be a good idea. Not sure if the ST folks have thought about it. It will also give all the people on this thread some satisfaction of buying a Hub V2ā¦even though they may get it weeks later
@Ben Have you guys considered this?

@ashutosh1982 ā¦
I hate to be a āDebbie Downerā, but regardless of the size and duration of the Beta group over the past few months, it is just good risk management practices to roll-out Hub V2 into the wild at a conservative āmeasured paceā.
Trying to recall how long the Amazon Echo roll-out was spread over: Ahā¦ November 2014 announcement and just went āpublic releaseā this month (July 2015) ā¦ 7 months, right? Quite a long invite-only period, but with an attractive price to help manage expectations for the early adopters. I think that was an appropriate strategy. Lots of different factors involved in SmartThings, so a fast roll-out may be appropriate and have net positive results (e.g., cloud offloading), but, ā¦ slow and steady wins the race.

I am with you on this one. I am not so eager to get a Hub V2 either. For me my V1 works 99.9% of the time. So no complaints whatsoever. There is always excitement in anticipation of something newā¦ Curiosity kills the cat.
.
. And I guess lot of folks here are curious to experience Hub V2ā¦which at the end of the day may not be very different from V1 as far as end user experience is concerned. But neverthelessā¦ I want to be part of that excitement of seeing something newā¦
Here is a question that may spark more exciting and positive responses in this thread than the date guessing race above which has gone on for 755+ posts hahaha . . .
When HUB Version 2.0 is out, what do you all want to integrate or hack with its new features & protocols types such as BLE / USB / The local processing etc etc . . . have you all been eying up stuff around the house or in stores that you have on your own personal road-map for, that you are excited to get on with integrating that you cant currently?
Can a smart person tell me, whether the upcoming UK launch of SmartThings will allow me in Scandinavia to import a bunch of stuff from the UK and have it all magically working?
well i imported my V1 stuff from US and all works fine in the UK . . . so cant see why carrying the chain on elsewhere wouldnt have same effects haha
Well, the main issue with US import into the UK is that there is a difference in one of the standards that SmartThings use (canāt remember of itās Zigby or Z-wave, but one of those run on another frequency in the US and EU).
This could potentially mean that some of my current IoT stuff wouldnāt be able to talk to SmartThings and that kinda ruins the whole project. At least when it comes to a US to EU import of the hardware.
the way i solved it is just to have everything US . . . the UK is so far behind its untrue, they have only just started selling HUE bulbs in retail stores . . . so ive always just gone US with everything as i try to get stuff asap . . . so thats not been an issue so far and i have tons of devices
@Ben, Can you start a Pre-Order page so that all of us can stop bugging you and weāll just be settled in for the Short Wait? I Hope!
