The February release notes for Google Home added supports for button-based automations. However, the buttons I have in SmartThings are not showing up in the Home app (I have an Ikea Tradfri and a virtual button). Has anyone had success with them, or are further changes needed from ST? I’m trying to set up an automation that triggers a Google Assistant command/routine.
I believe it’s only for Matter buttons directly connected to Google Home.
Needless to say, if you want to trigger something in Google Assistant, you can do that with a virtual switch. Just turn it on with your button and use the switch on as starter in Google Home routine. Don’t forget to turn the switch off so it’s ready for next time, a delay of 2 or 3 seconds and turn off is enough.
Thanks, that’s what I’m doing at the moment - it just feels hacky and is slow, so I was hoping for a more native approach.
