Smart Life integration (July 2020)

My Treatlife fan & light switches show up as dimmers and on/off fan switches. The SL automations are still showing offline but its huge progress!

This is what Tuya tech support told me, and generally seems correct. “See if it shows up in the 3rd party controls, to see if it’s supported.”

I then asked them about an Arlec Security Floodlight that showed SmartThings in the 3rd party controls, but didn’t show up in the SmartThings app, and they said it wasn’t supported. Arlec tech support confirmed that their products don’t work with SmartThings.

Australian brand “Laser” tech support have informed me that they don’t support SmartThings 3rd party integration. As far as I know, only Mirabella Genio products are supported, of the Tuya-based products sold at Australian retail stores. I have several models of their globes (white, colour) and two different models of smart plug, all showing up in the SmartThings app.

I’m guessing Tuya is charging the brands for the integration. don’t pay = not supported.

This is what I get when I try to link from ST

Is this normal until they make it work?

My devices are from zemismart and I’m using smart life app

I think it’s expected, but I wouldn’t consider it “normal”.

It’s hard to say if this means it’ll not work, because I received weird messages even when it works.

But I don’t remember ever seeing “A network or server error occurred” on my app. So I’d guess this isn’t a good sign - whether Zemismart is supported or not. It could be a bad wifi/internet connection or an outage at Tuya/SmartThings/Zemismart.

Yes, that message appears when attempting to link your Smart Life account with SmartThings; the integration should still work (to varying degrees as detailed above).

Powertech (Jaycar) bulbs, and Treatlife have also been reported to be working, but Mirabella Genio seem to have the largest range - very happy with their integration

Yes, and Genio are often discounted at Woolworths, Coles, Kmart and Big W.

I didn’t know Jaycar had a line of smart devices. Good to know.

I’d never heard of Treatlife before. Where do you buy them?

I got that from @Terri_Baker 's previous post

I bought my Treatlife switches off Amazon

The Jaycar plugs are much more compact than the main brand ones, has me a little worried. They are very similar to the Lenovo ones from JbHiFi and the Brilliant Smart ones from Officeworks (i have a few of these and had them working with ST untill the stuffing around with SmartLife).

Still an absolute mess… :grinning:

This process worked for me.

  1. Download the Smart Life app and add your devices with that app (not within ST). In my case I added three smart plugs. I have added my plug to the https://thingsthataresmart.wiki/index.php?title=SmartLife_(Tuya)_Compatible_Devices. In the Smart Life app, create a ‘tap-to-run’ scene for each device you want to control. I did do both an ON and an OFF for each plug. Call them something without any special characters. Do this for all of the devices you want to add to ST at this time.
  2. Using the new ST app, add a device using the Smart Life service link in the new ST app. It might say it failed, but all of the Smart Life scenes you just created above should show up as devices in smartthings with two Chinese characters added in the name. Delete the Chinese characters. I am using the plugs for Christmas lights, so I assigned all of the ON/OFF devices from step 1 to my Christmas Lights group.
  3. I am not sure if this step is needed, but it worked for me. And I did not have to add virtual switches. I went into the ST IDE and edited the Name, Label, Device Network ID, Hub and DTH of each of the ON/OFF devices above. Initially I changed the DTH from “placeholder” to a Virtual Switch. The devices did work briefly and then went offline. But when I added these devices to webcore, I could not control them. So I changed the DTH to Simulated Switch. Now I can control them in webcore. It took a few minutes, but all devices then came online. The same problem still exists with switch synchronization. I use the ON switch to turn on a plug, but turning that switch off does not appear to do anything and does not turn my plug off. So I have to use the OFF switch to turn the plug off. So I use webcore to reset (synchronize) those switches.

I don’t know how you figured out it needed a Simulated Switch DTH – but this also worked for me. Ugly, but damn if it didn’t work! Thank you!

This worked for me as well. I have Feit RGBW light strip (from costco) and just would not integrate to ST. Tried SmartLife, Global Suit and Tuya. Tuya finally worked for me and I was then able to remove the 2 characters + virtual switch as described. I now have 2 devices (one for on and one for off). At least I can now finally use this device in ST scenes. Thanks all!

How did you create a ‘TOGGLE’ switch. My Tuya app only allows On or Off and doesn’t allow me to select both.

Glad it works.

Well, for me it stops working. Once set up they all go ONLINE but then after a bit they all go OFFLINE. If I go in and just update the Device (no change) they pop back ONLINE but then a little later they just all go OFFLINE. Any idea?

In WebCore I create a piston using a virtual switch created in the IDE for each device. The first part of the piston say toggle the “on” scene when the virtual switch is turned “on”. The second part of the piston say toggle the “off” scene when the virtual switch is turned “off”.

That solves the offline problem.
