Smart deadbolt recommendation?

We choose this one because its so simple and looks great! It even talks.

How’s the battery life on the Schlage. I have Kwikset right now, and have to change battery at least monthly… Looking for replacement with longer battery life

A few months using Lithium batteries.

This obviously varies by the amount you use the lock, but less obviously by the strength of your Z-Wave mesh.

Be sure to run a Z-Wave repair after installation (or after installation of Z-Wave repeaters like powered outlets and switches).

My schlage deadbolt at home gets tons of use but the batteries last a very long time, maybe 5 months. At work they go out almost every month. The work one gets more use but not 5 fold.

Did anyone find a deadbolt without the manual lock and unlock on the inside. I have glass doors. What does everyone use.

That would be really difficult to engineer. The motor assembly Md batteries need a place to exist. Can’t put them on the outside of the door. If you got creative you could probably make an August smart lock look good for your application.

Hi, I am also considering to install a SmartLock on the front door but could not find the lock that would hit all my checkboxes.
Here are the features I am looking for:

  1. SmartThings integration
  2. Retrofit design so I could attach it to the existing deadbolt assembly
  3. No outside keypad module - I dig all the benefits of having one of those but the reality is - I don’t really want or need it (I don’t have nannies or contractors or relatives coming by while I am not at home, so can’t benefit from these unlock codes)
  4. I want to be able to close the door on schedule basis. Meaning that something like below check would be executed every day at 10PM:

if (myLock.getLockStatus.equals(Lock.UNLOCKED)) {
myLock.lock();
}
5) (Optional) Tempering alerts. It would be great if I could order my Ring doorbel (or Arlo cameras) l to start recording if lock sends an alert when someone tries to temper with it.

August smart lock with the camera module. But trust me. You will want to get the keypad for it too. Thankfully, you can buy that later and add it on.

I was also resistant to getting keypads when I was shopping for smart locks, but have grown to appreciate them now that I went ahead and got them. Aside from the convenience of never being locked out without a way to open the door, and the ability to virtually “rekey” the lock, I think it may also deter would be intruders. Maybe I’m wrong, but it sort of gives the impression that you tried harder than your neighbors to secure the house.
