Samsung gas dryer not showing energy usage

Recently discovered the energy usage section of the SmartThings app, but dismayed to see that only my washer is registering it’s usage with the app.

I know the app limits the remote control over my gas dryer because it is gas and not electric. But is it a known issue that it won’t register the electricity usage either?

If not, any suggestions for how to fix it?

Thanks!

Same for me too, and it’s been like that for as long as I can remember. I’m not sure why Samsung gas dryers are showing anything.

@nayelyz , is this by design that gas dryers behave like this?

Hi!
Sorry, I don’t have information about this. Have you asked Samsung support? They might have more information on what’s supported on each device.

Thanks for your replies. I’ll research how to get in touch with Samsung Support.

@nayelyz I noticed something when the dryer is running, the app reports the energy in use at the time.

It’s looking like this is just a bug. Either the query pulling the data out of storage (local? cloud?) is simply not pulling the data from the dryer, or the data from the dryer is not being written to the data store in the first place.

Think you can route this to the appropriate dev team for investigation?

Thanks!

Ok, so, when the device is running, you see the current energy use which makes sense.
But, you cannot see it in that history? How are you getting to that page? It seems something like SmartThings Energy but I want to be sure.

The page seen in the screenshot is just the home page in the SmartThings app.

Same screenshot attached to this one, I just circled the nav option at the bottom of the screen I tapped on to get this screen to pop up.

Sorry for the confusion, @ExNooYorka, I meant this page.

From the main page, tap the Energy Usage icon

Then tap the graph I circled

And then I looked at Monthly, so tap that option.

(as a new user I can only upload one image per message…)

aah, you are trying to see the gas dryer in SmartThings Energy, right? Sorry, I have no devices installed supported there so I couldn’t see the same menu you did to recognize it.
I believe not all devices are supported there, I would still suggest you contact Customer Support from SmartThings to ask if this specific model is supported there.

Ok, will do.

What’s the best way to get in touch with them?

@ExNooYorka, here are two options to do so:

From the ST app

  1. Open the SmartThings app
  2. Go to the menu tab at the bottom-right corner.
  3. On this page, select the option “contact us” and then go to “Error reports”
  4. Select the topic related to your issue and follow the steps to submit your support request

Through the SmartThings Web page

  1. Enter this page
  2. Select the topic that is more accurate for your case
  3. Follow the steps presented to submit your support request
