Recently discovered the energy usage section of the SmartThings app, but dismayed to see that only my washer is registering it’s usage with the app.
I know the app limits the remote control over my gas dryer because it is gas and not electric. But is it a known issue that it won’t register the electricity usage either?
@nayelyz I noticed something when the dryer is running, the app reports the energy in use at the time.
It’s looking like this is just a bug. Either the query pulling the data out of storage (local? cloud?) is simply not pulling the data from the dryer, or the data from the dryer is not being written to the data store in the first place.
Think you can route this to the appropriate dev team for investigation?
Ok, so, when the device is running, you see the current energy use which makes sense.
But, you cannot see it in that history? How are you getting to that page? It seems something like SmartThings Energy but I want to be sure.
aah, you are trying to see the gas dryer in SmartThings Energy, right? Sorry, I have no devices installed supported there so I couldn’t see the same menu you did to recognize it.
I believe not all devices are supported there, I would still suggest you contact Customer Support from SmartThings to ask if this specific model is supported there.
Hi there! I hope you’re doing well. I’m reaching out because I’m experiencing the same issue with my dryer as you mentioned. I contacted Samsung support, and they informed me that “dryers take longer to report the usage.” I’m currently on my 20th load, so I’m just curious—did you manage to get any help with this? Thanks! (Samsung Laundry Hub)
The ultimate disposition was to contact support and report a bug, which I decided I wasn’t going to chase myself. I get enough information about my electricity usage from my power company (they provide “appliances” which is enough), and I decided that I wasn’t going to change the usage of my dryer based on what I saw in the app. The information was “nice to have” but it wasn’t “must have” for me.
So I let it go.
I’m sorry you’re having the same problem. Hopefully Samsung will get around to figuring this out and will task their dev team with providing a fix!
