I’ve just bought a Eufy E25 Robovac which is Matter compatible. I’ve added it into Smartthings and I can read its state, start it and stop it but not much more than that - control seems to be quite limited. I’d like to trigger a pre-configured room clean (pre-configured in the Eufy app) when I press a smart switch for example. It would be great to have a smart button in the kitchen and then when cooking is done and the floor needs mopping, I just press the button and Eufy arrives and does the job.
Anyone know if this is possible?
Have you got smart speakers, mobile phone or a smart watch? ‘Assistant_name vacuum the kitchen’. Is so much easier…
Yes, an excellent idea thanks, but I’m not keen on open microphones. A smart button on the wall would be so much simpler.
It only listens with the wake word
hmmm, but if it’s not listening all the time then it won’t hear the wake word?
Google Do smart speakers listen all the time?
Yes, smart speakers are designed to be always listening but not in the way that suggests they are constantly recording and sending your conversations to a remote server. They are constantly in a state of “listening” for a specific “wake word” (like “Alexa,” “OK Google,” or “Hey Siri”). When the wake word is detected, the device then begins recording and processing your voice command.
Here’s a more detailed explanation:
-
Always-on listening:
Smart speakers have a microphone that is constantly active, allowing them to hear sounds in the room.
-
Wake word detection:
The device’s internal system is designed to recognize specific words or phrases that activate the device.
-
Audio processing:
Once the wake word is detected, the device starts recording your voice and sends that audio to the cloud for processing and fulfilling your request.
-
No continuous recording:
The device doesn’t continuously record and transmit all audio it hears; it only does so after the wake word is detected.
-
Potential for false positives:
Sometimes, a smart speaker might mistakenly activate when it hears a word or sound that is similar to the wake word.
Seems like I’ve been overly paranoid and not fully understanding the tech. I’ve always avoided voice activation but maybe I should give it a go. I have many voice control speakers but they’re all disabled. I’ll try your suggestion and see how things go. Thanks for the suggestion and the insight. Cheers.
All was going well until it appears that Google Home won’t link to Eufy Clean so that’s the end of that for now. Google Home tries to link but then fails saying Eufy Clean RoboVac not available.
Mine is fine.
These instructions will help enable you to control your eufy devices with Google Assistant.
Before you start, please make sure that:
Your eufy Devices are connected with the eufyHome app.
You have a Google Assistant enabled device (i.e. Google Home).
The Google Home app is already installed on your smart device, and you have created an account.
To control eufy devices with Google Assistant:
For Robovac only, do the following steps:
Open the Google Home app.
Say “OK Google, talk to RoboVac” to the Google Assistant-enabled device (i.e. Google Home) to initiate the Google action for RoboVac.
Follow the instructions in the Google Home app to authorize Google Assistant with your eufyHome account.
To control RoboVac with your voice, say simple commands to Google Assistant:
“OK Google, ask RoboVac to start cleaning”
“OK Google, ask RoboVac to stop cleaning”
“OK Google, ask RoboVac to go home”
“OK Google, ask RoboVac to find my robot”
If two or more RoboVac devices are added to the eufyHome app and you use Google Assistant to control them, use the eufyHome app to rename each RoboVac. Names should be easy to pronounce in English and must not contain an emoji or special characters. When giving a command, replace (robot name) with the name of your RoboVac.
“OK Google, ask RoboVac (robot name) to start cleaning”
“OK Google, ask RoboVac (robot name) to stop cleaning”
“OK Google, ask RoboVac (robot name) to go home”
“OK Google, ask RoboVac (robot name) to find my robot”

Thanks but mine just won’t play. I see yours is a G30, mine is an E25. I’m convinced it’s a bug - got to be. I’ve tried everything. It sort of links but then the last step is to go talk to the vacuum (that’s what it appears to do) and it’s at that stage it fails. The Google account has it in the list of linked accounts but Home doesn’t seem to want to know. I’ve dropped Eufy a support ticket.
