Ring Alarm Z Wave Plus Integration with Smartthings

I have a Ring Alarm and I bought new door locks that were said to work with Ring and Smartthings. The lock devices are Z Wave Plus. I can’t seem to connect the locks to Ring and Smartthings simultaneously. My assumption is because a device can’t be on two zwave networks at the same time. The Ring integration offers a few more bells and whistles above ‘lock’ & ‘unlock’, but it sure would be nice at the very least to also have a copy of these devices on my smartthings hub.

Has anybody successfully integrated all 3 at the same time?

Is there a connecting workaround that I’m not seeing?

You are correct that a zwave Lock can only belong to one primary controller. This is considered a security feature in Z wave. So it can work with the ring security base station or with smartthings but not both at the same time. This is true of all zwave Locks.

Any specific features? You can access almost every feature for Z-wave locks (including hidden/advanced settings) in Smarthings.

Being able to disarm by entering unlock code on door. Because ST doesn’t have the Ring alarm integration, I’m assuming this will never work in ST.

Also, setting the codes from the app is SO much easier than trying to do it on the door.

The auto locking, I handle through Alexa based on alarm state.

There’s a community created integration, but I’m not 100% sure if it’s still working. It’s sort of complicated.

JD’s already shared with you a possible integration for Ring above.

As for settings codes you can set lock user codes through SmartThings. For basic user codes you can set them using the built in Guest Locks SmartApp.
If you’re looking for advanced features and users like start/expire on (future date), presence based (i.e. codes are activated only if you’re around), weekly/daily scheduled users, user notifications and much more you can check out this app: [RELEASE] Lock User Management (LUM)

There’s also a Ring Alarm Keypad integration available here: [RELEASE] Ring Alarm Keypad (2nd Gen) Device Handler
While this won’t connect to your Ring Alarm (see JD’s link for that), but will allow you to use they keypad with SmartThings.

It looks like towards the bottom of this thread, folks are just using simple commands in conjunction with smartthings. I’m already using SC, it looks like I just need to take a few extra steps to tie it to ST. The thing I worry about here (and why I don’t use SC for more than just Ring) is I’m afraid of this duping all my devices in Alexa.

I was a little overzealous when I found out about SC a while ago because they had so many of the integrations I needed and triggers that I wanted but my smart home in Alexa became unmanageable with everything duplicating. I guess I could always disable the copies of these devices in Alexa since I have most things routed through the ST hub to Alexa rather than individual Alexa connections like I used to.

I’ll play with it and see what I come up with. Off topic but I see that SC now also has a Neato integration whereas ST is still DIY. I might try to work on that as well.
