Thanks. Updated and all looks good now.
Hi @RBoy with the recent upgrade of sonos integration. I tried using this app. Current setup I have sonos p1 on UK hub I get announcements for door open and close each time regardless of time or day. I tried removing sonos and adding again tried changing device handler no use. This app is the last option I have… i tried using it and it shows it has sent command to sonos but sonos doesn’t speak no TTS I have set it up to say " door open" and " door close" … can you guide me step by step for what am I missing. Many Thanks
sorry for several posts trying to figure out how to upload screenshots. any ways… all i want the app is to state the status of open close sensors when status changes i have 2 doors back and front. previously i was using big talker 2 to run the same task and was working flawlessly. until the recent upgrade in sonos integration. any help will be appreciated in getting this back to work.
Where is the option to select the Sonos favorites?
Could “button held” be added as a trigger option?
Hi. I was able to get this set up and hear speaking notification via my sonos speakers, but I’m wondering if I can get a “chime” to play instead through my sonos speakers (or alexa’s). Thanks.
This looks like a great addition, but I need to buy a vowel?
I have an open/close sensor on my mailbox. I would like to tie a verbal announcement in to my Alexa stating “Mail Has Arrived”. I can get the first part accomplished tieing the smart app to the sensor, but I don’t see how to initiate a command through Alexa.
I’m sure the answer is simple but I don’t yet see the solution.
Still wondering how you tie the Alexa Echo or other Alexa device to this app?
You just fill out the forms for sensors and triggers, Chime and Notifications, as well as Operating Schedules and Modes within the app and it takes care of it. It can then ring a Chime, send and SMS’ or a push notification or speak custom messages via Alexa. For that part, you just select the Echo devices (that are already in your ST devices) you want it to use from the Chimes and Notifications section.
Works good for me.
This is my problem. I dont see any of my Alexa devices listed.
Are they listed as devices in ST?
There is an easier way, and I just did it:
- Make sure the sensor is included in the Alexa Smartapp
- Discover your devices in Alexa and validate the sensor is there
- In the Alexa phone app, tap on the three bars in the upper left corner to open up the menu
- Tap on Routines and then the “+”
- Give your routine a name
- Under “when this happens” select Smart Home and then your sensor
- Under “add action” select “Alexa says” and then Customized
You’ll be able to figure out the rest
Thanks. I’ll give this a shot.
Hi there. If you aren’t seeing any of your echo devices listed you may want to check if the Alexa integration is installed. Please see the first post for a link to the Alexa integration.
Maddie, I went to the Rboy 1st post and I see nothing about “Alexa integration”.
Hi, you can find the integration installation instructions here.
Finally SUCCESS!
The missing link for me was loading Echo Speaks from Git Hub.
That part was a little bit of a bear. I did the manual install. A few steps were missing, but on failure it was pretty easy to fill in the blanks. I had done this once before with Konnect so that helped.
How happy I was to hear “Mail Box Has been Opened”. Very nice indeed!
Chimes and Notifications for Doorbells and Sensors - version 01.06.00
- Added option to skip the first notification
On popular request we’ve added the ability to notify after/every X minutes. You can set a repeat notification interval and enable the Skip first notification option.
What chime is recommended? It appears the chimes that were in the original post are no longer available to purchase anywhere.
What I’m trying to accomplish is when a door opens it beeps the way a traditional alarm beeps to let you know a door opens.
You can check out EcoLink, Aeotec and ZigBee keypads.
