Recommendation for contact sensors, in bulk?

Which version are they selling ?

These are 3320-L. They work with SmartThings.

There were 2 generations of Lowes Iris. The first gen was proprietary. It’s contact sensor (DWS901) did not work with SmartThings.

The 2nd gen and 3rd gen Iris was ZigBee and standard. All of the 2nd and 3rd gen sensors work with SmartThings, IIRC. 2nd gen contact sensors were 3320-L and 3320-L2. 3rd gen was IL061.

Awesome. Ordering 30. Thanks for calling them to change lot to 10. I saw the 100 lots last week and was trying to decide if I should take the risk and hassle of selling the rest of them somewhere.

FWIW, I couldn’t find any ratings on this web site. I hope they are above board. They certainly were responsive to my request. They appear to be a liquidator of excess business merchandise.

I paid with paypal rather than a credit card (since I no longer have a card that gives me virtual CC numbers). Other folks might wait until some of us have reported success receiving orders before placing their own order.

It definitely looks like this company got all the existing stock that Lowe’s pulled off the shelf so fast. I’ll report back what my outcome is… I paid cautiously as well.

Got my sensors today. 9 out of 10 worked. Did not come in boxes, but that was expected from looking at the pictures on the site. All of them are new, had tabs to pull, batteries show 100%

I have emailed them asking how we I can get a replacement. Will let you know how that part goes.

What battery does this one use? Anyone using it in refrigerator? I’d like to swap out a couple SmartThings multi sensors that aren’t working great.

I noticed they also have 3326-L motion sensors 10 for $50
And 3210-L2 smart plugs $15 each

Batteries are CR2. I have three frig/freezers with the contact sensors inside each door. 6 sensors in total. I’ve had them for at least 2 years, but more like 3 or more. It’s been so long I’ve actually forgotten how long.

They’re working perfectly without any issues.

CR2s. I’ve just switched to rechargables for these, too.

I’m super surprised that these are not gone yet. Came home today and wife had 7 out of the 12 windows up in the Day Room while the AC was on 75. Hurried back here and I ordered a lot of 10! At $6.67 per, the price can’t be beat.

Now if I could just find affordable Smart Vents…Need 3 for that space. Rather close the vents if the door is closed vs shutting down the air to all of downstairs.

Ordered 30 of 3320-L sensors, got 31. Shipping is fast.

First one paired successfully, 29 more to go.

Got mines fast as well. These are new and even come with the 3M tape. Unbelievable deal.

These will Day Room windows will finally get sensors so I can shut the AC down when my Wife is Zenning out with the windows wide open.

Do people like the contact sensors as much as the door sensors?

Been hanging around the hoop on both the sensors (have 2 lots of the door and 1 lot of motion in my cart right now)…hard for me to pull the trigger on tech that is so old and without firmware updates. Worried about ease of use (conflicting threads on pairing), longevity, and upkeep costs with the batteries (read lots of threads about the batteries this morning).

But all of you look like power users (I’m just beginning in this; still disappointed my ring alarm doesn’t integrate well).

Any soothing words of wisdom? :man_shrugging:

Do you mean motion sensors as much as the contact sensors? If so, absolutely. If I had room for more of both, or any excuse for getting more, I’d buy these up like candy.

These are rock solid devices, and ST can update the firmware if it’s not current with what ST has available. Obviously there’s no more updates being written for these, but they can be updated.

My batteries typically last a couple years or more, even in heavy traffic and usage areas. I know because I write the date of replacement on them before putting them in a device

I do. I started this thread because I was looking for something more recent to purchase to augment the ones I already have. Finding more of the Iris ones was just awesome. I’ve got 14 of the motion sensors and 30 of the contact sensors that have been in service for 4+ years without an issue (well, I dropped one motion sensor from a height of 9’ onto a tile floor and it stopped sensing motion; I don’t blame the sensor for that. I now use it just as a remote temp measurement). I had 1 DOA motion sensor from those I bought at Lowes.

As for pairing – they just show up as SmartSense Motion or Open/Close Sensors, and that runs locally to the hub.

The battery life has been great (with the single-use CR2s – I’m just switching over to rechargeable RCR2s).

I was really surprised when I found that SmartThings Zigbee firmware updates were updating these!

Yeah, ST has been able to do OTA updates on certain Zigbee devices for a while now, but not yet for Zwave devices.

@johnconstantelo / @jlv and to the others that posted. I ordered 20 doors sensors, 10 motion sensors, and 1 plug (just to try out). Kind of excited, especially the motion detectors. Thanks all.

I received all 30 of the contact sensors that I ordered. Like everyone else, they’re brand new, just in bubble packs and no marketing materials. I laughed at the 30 FCC disclaimer cards thrown in.

All three kinds of devices from the Iris line are great. I like the plugs, the contact sensors and the motion sensors are good too. Although, I do like the newest ST-brand motion sensors as well… those are good. Can’t say that so much about the ST-brand equivalent in the plug and contact sensors.

If you do it right, the plug modules also (strangely) have a Z-wave repeater in them. The Z-wave radio does nothing to control the device, but it helps flesh out your Z-wave mesh as well. Nice little perk.
