does the power reading update on its own for anyone? or you just have to press refresh to update the reading?
also the outlet doesn’t seem to update manual (pushing the button between outlets) changes to the state.
For now I am using pollster for update every 5 minutes. Another quirk is you will get nu : W display instead of 0 for power. Anything more than that is ok.
Do you mean Energy or only the Power is not updating and Energy is OK?
For me it is constantly updating the Energy and the Power is calculated from it as it should.
Here is a screenshot of the constant flow of Energy messages:
mine does not seem to update either power or energy unless I hit refresh I did as @Navat604 suggested and added it to pollster
I think you have to try fixing it. Don’t leave it half-working like that.
The code subscribes for automatic energy reporting in the configure() method. You can try executing that method by running the device handler code under the simulator with the actual physical device selected as a target and pressing the Configure button.
I have two of these outlets (using this device type code) that keep falling off the network and the only way I’ve been able to get them connected again to ST is to shut off the breaker that controls the outlet circuit for 15 minutes and re-initiate the pairing process. Holding the button on the outlet for 5 seconds alone doesn’t seem to force the device to reconnect if it’s already been paired. Anyone else having the same issue?
Try changing your WiFi to a different channel. Nothing to do with this device handler. Usually the dropout is caused by WiFi interference.
Thanks, I’ll give that a shot, seems weird though that none of my other Zigbee devices have ever dropped off the network, only these two…and twice within a week.
Thanks for the advice Sean.
I noticed this week that none of my zigbee devices (smartsense motion sensor and the two Quirky Outlets) were working. The last motion notice was from March 10 (7 days earlier) and also the last time my Quirky Outlet showed it had gone on was March 10. I plugged in my SmartPower outlet and couldn’t get it to work initially. I wrote to SmartThings support and they recommended “resetting” the devices. Somehow the motion sensor and Smartthings outlet started working and I deleted both Quirky Outlet devices and tried to re-pair. One of them re-paired but the other was acting strange. It wouldn’t turn on or off manually with the button on the outlet and the white LED would not come on when I held the button for 5 seconds to put it in pairing mode. This morning I turned off my circuit breaker for between 10-15 minutes and after restoring power it was working normally. It’s a pain to turn that circuit breaker off because that circuit also powers our cable internet modem. Hopefully this won’t be a common occurrence.
I ended up returning both of my Quirky Outlets because they would fall off the Zigbee network and/or other Zigbee units would stop working. It happened many times before I gave up. I was really disappointed in these units…
Brad, Sorry to here you had nothing but trouble with the Outlinks. I’ve got 13 of them that are rock solid with absolutely zero problems for many months. Well, to be honest, most have been running since a couple of days after the original release of the above device handler. I think my average price per outlet came to $9 or $10 each, making them the best bargain yet in my HA setup. If you don’t mind, where did you return them? I wouldn’t mind a couple more if they were still available at clearance prices.
Thanks, jd
Snagged them off Amazon. At one point some sellers had them really cheap. Not quite $10, but it was like $15. So I just returned them there. Amazon makes it so simple to return stuff…
Anyone having issue with these not working? about 8 of these and some would randomly not respond. The LED on it would blink and the device woudn’t respond at all. I have to power it off at the circuit breaker to get them to start talking again. I am thinking i have wifi interference but i’ve move the wifi chanel around a few time. I have enough repeater around the house so I don’t think range is the issue.
I’m also loosing connection to the IRIS door sensor at my mail box which isn’t too far from the house. My spruce sensor is also stop talking to the HUB.
Just moved my WIFI to channel 1 to see if that will help.
Did you ever get this sorted out? I have a couple of them that also drops off the network all the time. Not sure it’s a network related issue because I have repeater everywhere in the house.
I’m having an issue with our 2 outlinks as well. They keen dropping off the network and I loose connectivity to other Zigbee devices as well
Appreciate if anyone can recommend a fix other than removing these devices from the network and using them as regular dumb outlets.
Anyone having issues with this device on the v1 hub?
I have these paired to a v2 hub and keep having issues… dont have a v1 hub anymore to test and confirm
I am having issues on V2 hub. It is unresponsive… Anyone else figure out?
Have you guys tried power cycle the switch? I have a bunch of quirky outlets and they drop off the network way too often and have to power cycle them.
What’s the method of doing that? And how often do u Have to do it? Just curious because I Have it wired to my exterior lights, for 3 days now I didn’t even know lights weren’t going on at night…
