Problems With SHM/Routines

I have sirens screaming, lights flashing and can’t access the home monitor to turn them off

Do a quick search and you’ll find lots of people having the same issue:

and FWIW: http://status.smartthings.com/

I did do a quick search, did not see anything. But thank you for the status.smarthings.com link I didn’t know that existed.

Most sirens have a button on them you can press to turn them off. We’re looking into the issue. I apologize for the inconvenience.

That Sucks!!! hopefully you get it turned off - This is the reason I don’t have them or use SHM… ST isn’t ready for prime time security, HA as a hobby Yes, Security No! My wife would have me tear the whole thing out if that happened to me -

I wish I can turn back the clock and unbought all these ST things; read your post before spending thousands on a weekly degrading and broken so called automate security monitor system.

this model does not… I had to get a ladder out and remove it from the wall to pull the power and battery.

Agreed… and I only have these to play with. There is no way I would rely on ST for home security. And for the record I did catch hell for this

Grab some ear plugs buddy, they’ve been “investigating” this for days.

I disconnected the sirens before the other half destroyed them with a hammer.

Anyone get a response from support on this? I’m having a similar problem, the dashboard on my app won’t let me arm/disarm the system properly. Won’t load, keeps loading old information. Alarm kept going off so I removed it from the system. Getting pretty frustrating.

This is the third time this year smart home monitor has become unreliable and I’ve been unable to disarm it or turn off the siren. Good thing I set the siren to shut off after 1 minute last time. Still, I think I’m done with SHM…

After the most recent FW upgrades, I’m seeing that the SHM has become a bit sluggish, and does not update quick enough, and at times is actually stuck at the “Loading” state.

Also, changing SHM modes seems to have become a challenge too, and unable to switch between arm/disarm modes. I hope this issue can be root-caused, and fixed quickly, because at this point in time, my security system is disabled.

(Well… SmartThings is slow to put problems on it, but still worth “subscribing” to…).

I had a intrusion event recorded today but it was a false positive as the system didn’t run my I’m Back routine either as normally would occur. So I was trying to find and clear the intrusion but dashboard won’t load. So I guess I chalk this one up to sky net being down… Bummer this stuff can’t continue basic functions locally even if hub can’t connect to the gods.

UPDATE: Today 3/17/16 my dashboard is back up and running fine.

These constant issues were “fine” when they were a startup but they are owned by SAMSUNG – this is no longer acceptable

Semantically, I’d say they were never “fine”, but indeed, problems are more expected and “acceptable” from young small companies. The prominent use of Samsung in SmartThing’s branding is used for marketing advantages and conveys a sense of reliability that … we are not experiencing. Very hard for consumers to accept.

I was trying to come up with an analogy – but without competitors, it is difficult. If all the radio’s in just one model line of Ford’s cars, for example, failed to remember their presents and randomly turned on at loud volumes; well, it would get the attention of the press, and Ford and their Dealers would promptly issue a recall to fix the problem. I’m pretty sure this would be the case, even for the radio which is not a core function of an automobile and not a safety issue. That is, unless they took the GM approach and tried to bury the problem; which has it’s own implications.

But Ford has competitors. Vehicles last a decade and car owners tend to have a lot of brand loyalty.

The smart home system market … not yet, and maybe never. I barely hesitate to change smartphone brands, or TV brand, etc. (well… after dropping my Moto X, I did replace it with the next year’s model found on Craiglist, so … that’s that).

Nobody at SmartThings is happy about the current situation. But nobody has been able to prevent it from happening. Maybe, though, they’ve managed to make it less severe than it could have been? That’s the only optimistic view I can see…

I’m having the same issues. I hope this gets resolved because my security system is pretty important to me.
