I’ve had difficulty adding a Sonos Era 100 to SmartThings. With my previous Play:1 it was a simple case of scanning for a new device from the app but with the Era 100 it wouldn’t appear in either a Scan nearby or as a Partner device by account linking - this is with a Pixel 7.
Luckily I also have a Samsung Tab S8 and this did show the Era 100 - but alongside many other devices as a Personal device.
Thankfully, after some time I was able to persuade it to see it as a hub connected Sonos device assigned to a room like the Play:1 when it then appeared in the SmartThings app on the phone too.
Additional steps were needed in the advanced web interface using the Setplaybackstatus and Refresh commands to get the SmartThings status to match what the Era was actually doing so that stop/start etc work. This step I’m used to doing with the Play:1 after every Sonos f/w update when SmartThings loses “sync”.
These are hardly simple and obvious steps for users to perform.
This isn’t really adding anything at all but I recently added Era 100’s, 300’s and Arc Ultra without any pr poblems.
They were replacing rather than adding to existing speakers (Play:1 ect) and were identically named. However I did take the old speakers off line from Sonos (although not deleted from either Sonos or ST) first. I just waited a while (not too long but not immediate) for ST to catch up, which it did.
No doubt most have no issues but it didnt go as smoothly as with the Play:1.
The new speaker was known to the Sonos app on the same phone so the add Partner device by account linking method should have worked even if a LAN scan didnt
It may be a time factor rather than a device reason why the tablet app detected it but how long to wait? An Amazon Echo detected the new speaker immediately without any intervention.
Then’s there’s some long standing issues
Each time the Sonos has a f/w update or is power-cycled then SmartThings no longer aligns to Play/stop and stops seeing Sonos events - until a Refresh in the advanced web - which should be an App button as its so useful
In the app under the Sonos device there is Now Playing - but it still just freezes on the first thing ever played and never updates
