LOL, DUDE, every single person who replied said they had the bulbs. Did you read the comments? Seriously this isnt difficult. Out of the now 16 bulbs in my house 10 of them are OSRAM light bulbs.
Next time this happens
Step 1 - Follow the manufacturer process for resetting the bulbs - You will know they have reset as they will flash 3 times after about a minute the last time you turn them on.
Step 2 - Go into smart things marketplace and SCAN FOR NEW DEVICE. Bulb will flash indicating its been found. Finish.
If ST and Osram acknowledge an issue with the bulbs, then that’s a real bummer. These are (were?) very promising bulbs, especially for the money. Hopefully ST will get Zigbee OTA updates operational soon, so once Osram releases the firmware fix, they can be updated directly from ST.
I don’t know what the issue might be, but if resetting them gets them working again for a reasonable length of time, you can do so without removing them from SmartApps. That’s the major benefit of the advice we’re trying to provide.
i think it doesnt matter which “other” device you have these days and that can attach directly to ST but reviewing my HUE and Osram here - I cant say that you may not need their hubs to get any updates deployed even though the standards would make it possible … so I did get the hue and osram hub simply for update purposes which reside in my drawer and only get connected when I find details on the respective sites that there have been updates which cure a certain behaviour which for the Osram bulbs has been the case and since the update as mentioned previously they work flawlessly
Man that just seems like a LOT of work to get them updated. Can you describe the process for doing it? I was thinking of selling my hub but maybe I should hold on to it.
it is indeed mate -1st you need to reset them all and re-attach them to the Osram hub (6 times - off - 3 seconds on, off)
then attach them to the Osram hub - best connect all bulbs to the Osram hub first to update them all while being connected to the Osram hub
if there is updated software available for the bulbs - it will show in the app - update them all- took between 8 -12 minutes per bulb for me
then reset all bulbs again and re-attach them to the ST hub … in total the process took me I think around 2.5hrs …
what I did, I edited the bulbs in the IDE with some bogus information in the device field - so IDE - my devices, the bulb, edit and changed the zigbee id and network ID to something random - this will keep the object but wont clash when you re-add them … after the procedure and adding the bulbs back into the ST hub I then ran through all my rules and replaced the previous “placeholder” with the actual newly added object … its a pain but the only option I have found to do it without losing all my configuration …
BAH, that blows LOL. Is there an announcement page? I think i will hold off until something worth updating comes along. The only issue I am having really is when we have a power outage I have to go through and reset them and scan them back but that doesnt take as long as this would.
not that I know of but you should be able to just start your app connected to the lightify hub and check for new software being available - I actually have a spare bulb just for this purpose …
sorry mate - had some issues - I have just updated the hub to the following versions:
1.1.2.101 - it did show 1.1.2.110 first prior to the upgrade as available but then the 110 - so I guess this is very recent
zigbee got updated to 1.2.0.67
no worries - there arent any changes in the app eg you cant link it to anything so I would assume they only changed the zigbee version and did some minor changes to the hub software … might be worth reaching out to lightify@osram.com from a non google email address as those go to their spam folder so it takes 2-3 weeks for them to get back to you …
I have also checked the ST Hub Event Log and can see the zbjoin event.
zbjoin: {“dni”:“5351”,“d”:“8418260000028528”,“capabilities”:“0E”,“endpoints”:[{“simple”:“03 0104 0102 00 09 0000 0003 0004 0005 0006 0008 0300 0B04 FC0F 01 0019”,“application”:“03”,“manufacturer”:“OSRAM”,“model”:“LIGHTIFY Gardenspot RGB”}]}
I have removed the device and repeated the process several times with the same behavior. I would appreciate anyone thoughts as to what I might be doing wrong or overlooking.
I just lost 2 of these bulbs! I have a total of 5 connected directly to STH 2.0. First one was connected to a IKEA Lamp in my living Room. In a month it was dead, simply doesn’t turn on or off from wall power switch. Replaced it with another one which was functioning correctly for several months in my entrance, worked for few days and now it’s dead! Turning it on and off from wall switch doesn’t do anything no matter what’s the status in the app on/off. I suppose it’s dead if it’s not turning on from the wall switch. I’m really fed up with these osram. I bought 3 in late 2015 from amazon UK to test and to save by not going for the HUE route. They worked reliably and I was impressed by the response, ease of use and color changing using the nice color wheel in the ST app. Then I bought another 2 two months ago from Amazon UK but from different seller as the first one increased the price significantly! So I paid around £23 instead of 15 or 18 which I paid last year. These new Two showed a different profile in the ST app to change the color, a general stupid square which wasn’t very responsive and kept losing connection every now and then although they are 2 meters away from my hub in the living room! So when the new one died, I replaced it with an old one which worked good for couple days an snow it’s dead! What’s wrong here? Any possibility that the IKEA Lamp is burning them? I have the same Lamp working correctly with an old osram since November 2015! Why new bulbs use different stupid generic profile while old ones use the easy responsive color wheel?! Is their a fraudulent osram bulbs in the market I should avoid?! I’m fairly new to the whole thing (started late 2015), but I’m not a noob. I’m an electric engineer and a computer games programmer. I managed to install ST hub with 2 Echo (1 US and 1 UK) and added a harmony hub a month ago to control my TV, Apple TV. Last night I could save on buying Sonos by installing Big Talker, VLC Thing on an old MacBook Air and install relevant device handlers in the IDE to receive spoken voice notifications on the Mac transmitted back to the Echo via Bluetooth. So I’m fairly new, haven’t written any software here but not a noob, lol.
BTW, great community and help. Highly appreciated. Thanks.
Frank
P.S. After solving this bulb problem by buying new osram or switching to expensive HUE based on your recommendations, I will try to buy an android tablet and start playing with the Tile Dashboard and Logs to retrieve switches and sensors status through Alexa. That’s the major thing missing and the next in my to do list. Oh and voice notifications are trimmed most of the time, I need to look into this as well. Sorry, I know this part of forum is for Osram Lights only.
Not sure whats going wrong on your end I use roughly 20 in the house and 3 hue bulbs with an external switch - I cant complain at all - all working as expected never had an issue with them either - what I did though was upgrading the firmware of the bulbs before bringing them online …
@r4nd0m So you need an osram hub to upgrade the firmware on all bulbs, and you think it’s worth it to invest in one? Then you connect the bulbs directly to ST hub without the osram hub? If I got it right!
Correct I use the Osram hub to update the bulbs then reset the buls via the on/off procedure then add them directly to the ST hub - the Osram hub was quite cheap £20 or so - ST to my knowledge doesnt support OTA updates for Osram with the most recent software/or in general
