[OBSOLETE] Lock Manager

Short answer: No, the DTHs do not display existing codes.

Long answer: Most locks do not return the current value of a code when requested. Perhaps they do it for some kind of security reasons. The capability for lock codes in SmartThings requires that codes be returned when requested. Since most locks do not return codes, to make a more “universal” DTH we simulate this capability in code. Unfortunately we can only simulate the codes we know about, thus existing codes are not displayed. Some of the Kwikset locks do return codes but I’m not sure off hand which versions do but that would require a less universal DTH. I’m not sure if one exists.

hey all,

i have a Kwikset 914 Z-wave deadbolt. i recently updated from the last Lock Master. loving this new one thank you Erik. I am running into one thing… everytime i manually lock my the deadbolt it arms the house. I really only want this from the Keypad. My Lock: on Hello Home Phase does not have anything in the section On Manual Unlock/Lock… Any cues that might help me prevent this?

Thank you

I installed during the weekend a Schlage BE469 with the Lock Manager and the Device Handler without any issues; now i’m trying to setup the Smart Home Monitoring and using the Lock Keypad as a tool to Disarm the alarm.
is this possible?
Could you point to the right direction to complete this set up, thanks.

Huge thanks for all of the work that’s gone in to this app. It’s pretty incredible, to say the least.

I’m working with the Schlage BE429CAM716 lock. Everything seems to work right except I’m getting an occasional error on users stating “WARNING: This use has been disabled. Reason: Controller failed to set user code.”

It seems weird because the code will set and work a few times then go to this error. It’s as if the controller is repeatedly sets the code, rather than setting it and forgetting it, but then eventually has an issue communicating with he lock and disables the user.

Any ideas? For what it’s worth, I can confirm I’m using the Z-Wave Schlage Touchscreen Lock DTH. Thanks!

robsch, Can you look in the API page for your lock and see what is showing in the “Raw Description”?

Does it show “mfr:0000 prod:0000 model:0000” in that section?
If it does, then it is an issue with the lock pairing with the SmartThings hub. The developers are aware of the issue and the support team has told me that they are working to fix it but there is no estimated time to a release.

If you are having the mfr:0000 prod:0000 model:0000 issue, can you please contact support and let them know that you are having issues with the Schlage FE599NX as well? I hope that by getting more people to contact them it will show them that this is a pretty big issue.

@mccord42 - I have zw:F type:4003 mfr:0000 prod:0000 model:0000 – woohoo. I have the dud of the bunch. That will teach for me for being an early adopter of smart locks. I assume you mean @smartthings support and not Schlage?

Switch to Erik’s DTH (Z-Wave Lock Reporting) that he provided. I ran into this issue before and removed my old DTHs. That seemed to resolve the retry issues.

Hey guys! I used Lock Manager for months now with no issues. All of sudden a few days ago, my lock stopped responding to codes. I am still able to control it from the App but codes no longer work. I checked the smart app and there are duplicate copies of it. Should I delete all of these and start over? Any idea what has happened? Also, Per the instructions you can see the main lock and codes under the installed section of the main app but mine never populated there. Could it be there is a communication issue with my lock and hub?

Awesome. Thanks for the tip. Trying it now.
Out of curiosity, isn’t the BE429CAM716 a “Z-Wave Schlage Touchscreen” and should be ok with that DTH?

Sorry. Apparently I have no idea how to use this forum platform.

Anyways, it’s odd. It only seems to have issues with this one code but in any slot.

What are the group’s thoughts on clearing out the old codes before adding codes via the app?

i always start from a clean slate and clear out the codes from the locks. it seems to be the cleanest way to implement everything.

yes, it is. i don’t know if erik’s smart app plays nicelly with the stock dth. i’ve tried the smart app with garyd’s dth and my own modified version. both resulted in constant retries which eventually disable the user codes after 10 mins or so.

First thing is, you should never have more than 1 instance of lock manager installed, so yes… delete all but 1, or delete them all and only create 1.

This app will not work with the default DTH.

Do you mean 469? I don’t know of any lock called 429. You have a picture of it? Are you sure 429? If it’s 469, yes you’d want to use the Schlage touchscreen DTH.

You might not… this just happens sometimes when the signal isn’t great. Just remove the lock and add it again… try moving it closer to the hub, worst case scenario, install another powered device between the hub and the lock.

I just installed locks at a friends house and we had to take the hub out of a closet and position it closer to the lock for it to work properly.

You’re welcome!

Yes, they have… But I have yet to debug it. It may not be an issue on the new 500-series chipset though, so I may not be able to replicate and fix, but I’m planning to try. I’m on a tight schedule and I haven’t had a lot of time to work on Lock Manager =(

Yes. The issue is with the smartthings hub software. Not the lock. I have two of the locks and they both pair just fine and have two way communication with an Iris hub but only seem to have partial communication with the smartthings hub.

There is a known issue with the Schlage keypad doorknob locks that is causing the mfr:0000 prod:0000 model:0000 issue. I have tried removing the locks from the door and taking them within 6 inches of the hub and not had a successful pairing. I have even gone as far as doing a factory reset on the lock after excluding the lock and still no luck on the pair. Since the lock isn’t reporting the full manufacturer info, the dht defaults to the basic lock type and so does not support the full range of features available on the lock.

Looking further, One app is for the lock, one for user codes, one is for keypad routine. It seems everytime I add functionality it creates a new version. I will start over and report.

Thanks,

Yes sorry. It’s a 469.

Hi,
I am new to smartthings (just got it yesterday). I am trying to add my lock (schlage connect touchscreen deadbolt with alarm). I got it added to the smartthings hub but am unable to create a new lock on lock manager. When I hit “New Lock” on lock manager, I get a message, “Sorry, but there was an unexpected error.” I am able to add a new keypad and my schlage lock shows up there.

Anyone have and idea what I can do to get this working?

When you installed the Lock Manager App, did you install the three child apps that go with it?

erik. i’m having issues with the notifications. at one house, the notifications work fine whether i set the global or user based options. at another house, if i turn on the global notifications, only certain user notifications are triggered when a given user unlocks the door. i tried the user based notifications, but that is also not working. any ideas?
