New upgraded First Alert Zcombo will not work with Smart things

I have many First Alert Z wave smoke and combo smoke and carbon detectors. All are starting to age out. I recently purchased a new model and it will not join Smartthings. You can tell the new models as they do not have an accessible battery. Older models require two AA batteries. I contacted First Alert and no help, finally contacted Smartthings and they informed me that it was not yet set to work. The new units are Zwave and asking if anyone knows the status and if there is a program to certify the new models to work. Thanks as always.

Works but nothing shows up when I do a test. Is this normal or should I try something else?

I am pretty certain performing a manual test on any Smoke Detector will not register in SmartThings. Or at least that use to be the norm years ago.

Smoke CO detectors don't notify me when I test them

The “test” function does not trigger Smart Home Monitor. If you want to end-to-end test Smart Home Monitor for Smoke, then you need to actually waft some real smoke (or “canned simulated smoke” - available at hardware stores) to the detector. Personally I just carefully light some paper (after soaking most of it in water).

I would be worried about it working during a real fire. You should get a can of text smoke and try it that way. You can buy it on Amazon and other places.
