I don’t remember exactly, I use node-red for the automations, so it goes from Arlo to Smartthings, to Hubitat to Node-red. I just think I had to change the message formatting up in node-red. If I could go directly to node-red from ST, I would love it but I can’t get it to work.
When you say deleting the linked account, do you mean from ST or the Arlo account entirely from the Arlo platform? My issue is that the page just sits and spins when I click on it in the Linked Services page, so I can’t even delete it from ST entirely if I wanted to…
Delete it in the ST linked account section. I have an iPhone and I swiped left on the Arlo linked account a delete option came up.
I swipe left and delete is an option, but then gives me an error. We seem to be trying to help each other and diagnose the problem or a solution. Where is the help and guidance from ST and their developers, the lack of support is completely unacceptable
I got an error as well, but then backed out of the page, and went back into the Linked Services page, and Arlo was now gone and all my cameras no longer shows as devices. Hopefully I can just start over.
Well, Dont bother. After much trial and error I have managed to delete my linked account, reestablish the account and not have the device again in ST, but still motion events do not register. So I have added a massive amount of work to rewrite my automations, webcore pistons, if and when ST things fix the motion events issue
Now that you have it relinked. What is the mode you have on the Arlo side. Youll basically need it armed all the time. (i created a mode that responds to motion and sound (if appropriate for the device) doesnt trigger recording and alerts with email. (and dumps the email to a dummy account).
Without that you wont get motion.
The same mode (Custom) that I had when it worked on Friday. The cameras record on motion, but ST does not get the motion event, it does show (in IDE) the on and off events but not motion.
Strange
, But after I typed the reply above. I checked again and I am getting motion events for at least 2 of my three Cameras, dont know what changed or if it just took time for the link between system to work. Also not sure how long it will work, as it was fine last week until Friday afternoon
What a pain in the butt! Now two of my cameras show motion and all normal. But my third camera will not longer show motion or record motion even within Arlo. This is a new problem that did not occur before today’s relinking of devices. I am going to reboot the base station, but the incompetency of this ST migration has caused me hours of work and much dissatisfaction.
I recall that it took a little while for the changes to get established through ST and Arlo. I have as custom mode that is always armed and sends motion alerts. I’ve just tested the Arlo motion alerts through Homekit/Homebridge and it is faster than going through ST.
dp, If I wasn’t utilizing webcore extensively I would go that route, and may have to anyway. I solved my problems, the one camera that did not response to motion with ST or Arlo today. I tried, rebooting, verifying settings, finally climbed up a ladder to the camera (20 ft up) and pulled to power and battery and let it reset. Then it worked and I thought I was done, but no…the camera no longer accepted AC power, is it the cord, the power wart or the the camera? after numerous trips up and down the ladder and test, it appear the power cord only had one more removal left in its lifespan. So altogether I have spent 5 hrs, misses a bunch of meeting all because a botched ST migration. Not very happy
Are your cameras showing in the IDE as “placeholders” device types and not providing any statuses such as battery percentage? The device ID for all of mine is “Arlo|:VMC4030|:undefined”
Same here, I am afraid if they attempt to change again, I will be back to square one!
That is the correct way for how a Schema device is represented in the IDE. Don’t edit anything on it. It’s just there so the Groovy IDE can interact with the Schema device.
@nathancu, Thanks for the information. Don’t plan on touching just worried that “placeholder” meant that something was going to replace the placeholder in the future.
Remember at this point SmartThings considers the IDE on a planned retirement path. Anything NEW they add in there is purely for the purposes of backwards compatibility to the old Groovy Infrastructure. That’s a ‘placeholder’ in the groovy IDE just so it can be seen. It’s also the same way your phone(s) present in the IDE now if you turn on new-style location detection and a few other things.
I’ve got exactly ZERO documentation on exactly how it works and I don’t expect to see any documentation on something that’s only there as a stopgap.
What I do know about them - Unlike a Groovy IDE device, the IDE is not the source of record, so your changes are subject to be overwritten and may can change on a moments notice. (Some people tried to use these to rename their phone presence devices with very little success)
But we’re on a tangent - glad you figured out what was up with that cam.
Hi All
we wanted to inform you that the Arlo migration for all users who were on the older integration to schema has been completed.
Though our work is not complete. We are putting our efforts now to identify issues with accounts and looking into solving issues related.
All my arlo cameras show as offline in SmartThings. Have been that way for 3 days, nothing I do gets them to show online and since they are offline according to smartthings, on/off via automation (or anything else for that matter) doesn’t work. Whatever you did over the weekend made all my cameras show offline in ST. In arlo app they are working fine. Please fix.
I believe I finally got things back to “normal”. Unfortunately, it took deleting the Linked Service, deleting all the cameras (multiple times), removing multiple “stale” cameras from via the IDE, ensuring the Arlo mode was set correctly for all cameras, and then re-adding and reconfiguring everything. All in the name of great new capabilities…
