New SmartThings Schema Integration for Arlo

  1. As noted, arlo app is working as expected. I get motion notification and recordings.
  2. As noted, for me, mode in arlo app is “schedule”. The schedule uses custom modes at different times of day.
  3. I will send S/N by PM if i can find it.
  1. yes, Arlo app works fine. I am getting both notifications and motion recordings.
  2. in Armed mode
  3. I can’t PM you since I am a new member. Could you PM me so that I can reply you with S/Ns?

Thank you

  1. yes, Arlo app works fine. I am getting both notifications and motion recordings.
  2. I have a smartthngs mode in Arlo. It sends an email records the video and sends an alert when motion is detected, which is not making it into ST
  3. I’m not sure how to PM you. I have the subscription if you can go in and get it from there. Otherwise can you PM me and I can respond.

All - we are reviewing some accounts which may not have had expired access tokens (internal) on migration which could be affecting some of these issues. We are working on a resolution and will update as soon as possible. Apologies and appreciate your patience.

hi @Adam_Smith
Thanks for reaching out to us. currently you can choose to setup the recording for each camera either in ST or Arlo app. but we suggest using the apps according to your requirements
for example
ST app is versatile as we have devices from various integrators onboarded by a user. Therefore any device in the ST app could be used as a trigger to setup the arlo camera to record in case of an intrusion.

For motion detection from Arlo cams, you can have 2 ways of setting up recording

  1. ST app can be used to setup automation through STHM / Automations to trigger recording to occur when the motion is detected. Please note that whichever mode you have in Arlo app, that mode should be set to Armed state so that the motion event flows. As mentioned before, Arlo and ST teams are working on sound event propagation to be made available in the near future.

if you use ST app to record based on Arlo cam motion events, then you can set the mode in Arlo to not record on the same camera - This is so that the recording is not set to happen on the same camera multiple times based on camera’s motion detection.
Please note that ST app is set to record for 1 minute which cannot be changed by the user at this time and changeable internally.
As @Chares mentioned, one of the option recording/the notifications have to be selected in the Arlo mode. the only way around this is to disable notifications but that is a per user decision to make.
We recommend to keep those notifications as they are security related and will help to proactively notify in cases of real intrusions.

Also please note that you can trigger on-demand 1 minute recordings per cam by creating scenes for single/multiple cameras at once. This is a new feature added.

A quick update on migration that’s underway : The team is working on syncing back the batch of users who had issues with using the devices after migration.
The migration will continue after that is completed.

If you see any issues after migration that is not fixed, please let us know here and we shall reach out to you to get required info for our team to debug.

Thank you for your understanding.

I know you only hear when things go bad. But yesterday my Cameras were no longer communicating with ST. So I made the migration, no issues. Additionally, I was able to construct some automations that I could not accomplish previously.

I saw all of my Arlo devices offline last night, so I just opened the Arlo connected service and backed out then they were all back online. I guess that’s happened after the ‘syncing’ was performed.

I’m still not getting any motion triggering from the Arlo cameras in SmartThings even though the Arlo app reports the motion notification.

I’m still able to control On/Off and initiate recordings from SmartThings.

Mine are doing the same.

Arlo app - armed

Camera on

Automation - if motion detected then turn light on.

Arlo detects motion, records and sends notification.

However ST does not respond to the motion event.

Just wanted to see if there was an update on the syncing issue?

Thank you,

@douglaspitman we are in process of fixing and testing the script to apply the fix which is being done today. We are targeting running the script to fix the issues on 12/10. Please stay tuned and i shall provide an update tomorrow on our progress and status

@Jake_Mohl the motion event in your case is not received in the ST app right? i.e you don’t see “motion event” in the history section of the camera detail view in the ST app.

Thank you for both your help and response!

Also to indicate a note here. for users who are facing issues with the migration, if you are comfortable with deleting the existing integration and re-onboarding it, the issue should longer exist for you as it’s a fresh onboarding.

Though as mentioned previously, your setup with automation, scenes, and STHM will have to be re-created after fresh onboarding.

sharing the steps from the first post

  1. From the Home screen, select Menu (Menu icon) and tap on the gear icon.
  2. Navigate to the Linked services page and tap on the Arlo integration.
  3. Select More Options () and delete the integration.
  4. From the Home screen, touch the Plus (+) icon and select Device.
  5. Select Arlo and tap Camera > Arlo
  6. Choose a location and room, and touch Next to enter your Arlo account credentials.
  7. Select the Arlo cameras or lights to connect and tap Done.
  8. Tap Done again to complete the setup.

Hello,

I’m using webcore to automate some routine.

Since 2 days, webcore doesn’t get any motion from ST
I don’t know if I have been migrated. I had a custom mode on arlo app. Changed it to Arm. I have some automation in webcore to turn off the camera when we are home, and turn it on at night and when we are away. I use Arlo to record when we are not there but not using SMH to set an alarm.

When the camera is On on Arlo, It show as off on ST

Is there something I’m missing ?

Note : I can’t do the unlink of the service, i’m having an error : server or network issue

@shravan that’s is correct. On any of my cameras I can scroll back and see absolutely no motion event in the history.

Arlo notification

Arlo camera in SmartThings

@Jake_Mohl @shravan - I am also seeing the same issue with my Arlo Pro 2, Essentials, Essential XL camera’s. It just shows “No history”

@suddin could you please confirm that you have set the mode in Arlo to armed and in that mode, you have set it to detect motion?
Also did you onboard the integration fresh or you have been using the Arlo integration through ST for quite some time (i.e months)

We are running a fixed script for the migration for all users to fix issues for users who were migrated. we are expecting it to be completed by EOD or by midday tomorrow.

@Jake_Mohl @suddin please share your Samsung email account ID through DM and i shall let the team know to run the script specifically for your accts.

@shravan - Yes Shravan in Mode section I have 3 Devices

  1. Base Stations which has a bunch of Cameras (5 Arlo Pro 2, Alro Pro Floodlight)
  2. Arlo Video Doorbell (connected directly via WiFi)
  3. Essential XL Camera (connected directly via WiFi)

The Mode for all 3 is ARMED, and it is set to detect motion, and records till motion stops, and send notification via the Arlo app

I was using the Arlo integration for a while now, and then after seeing issues I deleted the integration and and did the integration but still seeing the same issue.

Also to play the live video from the iOS app I have to click the PLAY so many times, seems the play button does not work in one go. Not sure if this is an issue at end or for everyone.

I appear to be having the same issue as above.

  1. Yes
  2. Armed
  3. Will PM you separately
