These are AKG (Harmon is owned by Samsung) and are bluetooth audio devices. They can cross-link, but they have little in common with the designed WiFi R-series speakers.

Since 1607 on Thursday 16th April, my WAM speakers that are slaves of a group, have suddenly started spamming “trackDescription” messages every 2 minutes, that’s 2104 messages from one device so far! They have a “null” value next to them, so I’m guessing @SmartThings have played around with the “LAN SamsungAudio DTH” behind the scenes and not corrected it back.
@Gutheinz Have you any idea what this could be?
I need data showing what is going on. I am concerned.
Recommended help for me:
- Open Live Logging.
- Run a refresh
- Pick the devices page in Live logging and copy to this forum
Initial conclusions
- I can not find code that would set the track description to Grouped with anything
- there is NO periodic, 2 minute process refresh process that would cause this within my code.
- it may be an external stimulus (Rule, connected smart app, etc) that is changing the attribute or otherwise causing it to update.
FYI:
- I no longer use SmartThings. The Hub is in storage.
- I currently use Hubitat with the same capabilities. These have evolved some (added Speak capability).
- I have received zero notification on anyone changing my code. I would at least expect this courtesy from if they had.
For some reason using the official LAN SamsungAudio DTH has changed the “trackdescription” to Display-true, instead of Display-false like it should be, which is why with each 2 minute refresh of the DTH I’m getting spammed. Sent a support ticket in.

@nayelyz Hello, can you find out from your colleagues the status of the Samsung multi room speakers and what will happen to them next month?
Currently they are using the official “Samsung LAN Audio” Groovy driver.
Will they still work next month? Or will there be a new LAN driver for them? To replace the official Groovy LAN driver?

The team mentioned that this stock DTH will be ported to Lua and I just want to confirm the model in your case.
This is a work in progress and there’s no ETA yet.
What do you mean by “next month”? They would be migrated until the driver is completed, the current integration won’t stop working.
Models WAM350, WAM550, WAM750
By next month I meant end of December, great news this DTH will get ported, thank you. Saves me some money.

@nayelyz Is there any update to the SamsungAudio driver to re-enable speech notifications as well as improve the general audio controls?

Sorry for the delay, the team made an update to the Samsung Audio driver and told me to ask for your help to test it by installing the driver from the Beta Channel. Could you do it, please?

Also, there was a recent update to the driver in the Beta Channel, do you mean that doesn’t work correctly for you? Can you describe its behavior, please?
@nayelyz Mine hasn’t converted to Edge
yet. Are we supposed to delete and re-add this manually? So it accepts an edge driver?

also a similar routine to mute the speaker did nothing`
thanks martinI tried the beta as well. It did find all 6 of my speakers. 3 of them have no control and I get an error message that “this device has not updated it’s information”.
I tried to announce to all of them and got nothing.
With my speakers playing the on/off does not appear to be working. This is a bit hard to test as the speakers came in with a generic “Samsung Wireless Audio” name. They did not pick up the speakers actual name in the Multiroom app as before.
I’m just glad to hear someone may be working this. I miss my previous functionality limited as it was.
