Kingroot needs WiFi access I see, but if I turn it on, surely the fire will update itself to latest firmware?
it will download but not update, donāt leave the device alone until you get it rooted adn you will be fine. mine was downloaded and rebooted several times and the update did not take
Ok Iāll go ahead then, I trust you!
yea i was super worried on the first rebootā¦was already thinking about returning it before it booted up lol. huge sign of relief when it didnt update, in fact it even showed the optimizing app page which freaked me out even more
It hasnāt rooted yet, followed to supertool, installed that app, enabled WiFi for it, rebooted a few times, then it put supersu on the device, then it put flashfire, put cm on external card, when I open flash it says needs root! So factory setting and starting againā¦
Yes I did enable developer options and enabled that setting, the supertool is different from 5.1.1 it did everything by itself, now with 5.3.1 you have to interact with the app it installs, and rootjunky says just follow the YouTube vid for 5.1.1 itās the same!
3 hours and Kingroot canāt root this Fire! Iāve restarted the whole process countless times, with a factory reset in the middle, it reboots itself s few times around 20 and 30%, then fails around 80% with something about āresearch requests is not enough, please wait, root againā
Isnāt there an easier way by just using Odin?
Odin is samsung software.
Try reading the XDA thread, there is mention of them using different APK versions of king root to get it to work. I had to change mine (canāt remember the version). Just follow the thread.
I would LOVE to know how you managed to get CM on there, I root, each time I try with Flashfire I see the script of it loading, and the gapps installing, then after a few minutes it just hangs on the Amazon logo screen. Itās getting quite annoying now. Re-root, and try again. Iāve tried putting the zip files on the external, on the internal, nothing works, within Flashfire Iāve moved the āwipeā function to the top of the list as people have said on the internet, nothing. Iāve meticulously followed rootjunkyās video, and other ones. If someone has a screenshot of their Flashfire page in setup Iād appreciate it. Iāve also tried auto-mounting option for the zip files, nothing.
First make sure FlashFire is up to date from the google play store, or sideload latest APK from apkmirror. Second try using Fire Nexus ROM, that is what I installed as the CM developer stopped developing CM and moved to this ROM. He also has precise instructions to follow, which I did, and they worked well.
Thanks, thatās good advice, because I did actually try that one first because it has gapps built in to it, it flashed fine, BUT I kept getting an in screen message āUnfortunately Google play services have stoppedā or something like that, which is also evident in this video that I copiedā¦
But if youāre saying that fire nexus Rom is stable, and fully kiosk works ok, because that Rom doesnāt have a camera app, Iāll try it. Did you have to download a camera app for kiosk to work?
i donāt know what Kiosk you are referring to, I think I got a google play services error as well but thats usually related to it updating when you first boot up. I just tried a random camera app and it seemed to work fine if that is what you need.
I used fire nexus rom so I can put xposed on it and run gravity box so I can do expanded desktop mode. I use this tablet for smart tiles and LANnouncer and it works fine for both. It actually replaced my nexus 7 as it was lagging too much and this tablet was perfect.
I was referring to Fully Kiosk Browser, that people are using for Smart Tiles, as it has a wake on motion using the camera, maybe it doesnāt need a camera app anyway. I just want it for smart tiles anyway, Iāll give it a go, thanks!
Thanks, I got the latest build from your link and itās stable. One question though, how can the SD Card be used as Adoptive Storage like on Marshmallow? Is there a very easy way to do it? You wouldnāt happen to have guide to do it would you please?
That I do not, my advice is to scour XDA for this.
