Netatmo Additional Modules

I have also not seen anything but 0mm on my rain gauge for what its worth. Also, obviously it should be a user option to show mm or inches, but at this point, i would be happy if the thing just worked.

As an aside, on an iPad it always shows 0m which is why I originally commented that it was only showing 1 ā€œmā€.

I tried unisntalling the ā€œconnectā€ app yesterday and now my devices page won’t refresh and my device list in the IDE throws a null error… ruh roh… lets hope support gets back to me soon.

Does the rain measurement show up in an api request (https://dev.netatmo.com/doc/methods/devicelist)?

Yep. I upload the data to Wunderground and it pulls the correct value there.

Can you pm or email me (dianoga7@3dgo.net) the response example while there should be rain data? The weather here is nice and my rain gauge isn’t super accessible. I’ll poke around and see what I can find.

I can do this when i get home

Brian, remember you still have access to my weather info from Netatmo. It’s raining now. My activity continually shows 0mm, and the activity has activity, but always zeros out to 0.

Ahhhhh i think i might know whats happening… Brian, are you pulling the rain/hr or accumulation data. (or both?) The rain gauge has both data points

Right now I’m just showing current accumulation (whatever that means). I’m not including the hour/daily summaries. Would that be useful to people?

Also, I suspect it is showing 0 due to the same rounding thing we’re seeing with temperature. I’ll see if I can find a reasonable way around that.

This is definitely it. My data was in inches so 0.04 was the data last night. Makes sense

Yes please!

By the way man. I super appreciate your support and awesomeness throughout getting all this working. Super cool of you to donate your time like this man!

Ok, here’s an update

I tried this again after i got my issues sorted out. I removed a modualt he wrong way it fibared my setup…

Anyways,

I poured more volume down my rain gauge today. It showed up in STs. I think rounding is the issue. When i got the mm mesurement above .5 it put 1mm into the data tile.

When it was below .5 it still showed 0mm. Since rain is measured in tenths most of the time the best solutuion would be to always show two decimals places. So even when we are at zero accumulation for the day we can show it as ā€œ0.00 inā€ or we can show ā€œ-- inā€. I think this should work. Can this be done @Dianoga?

Also, the next time the data was read from netatmo it zeroed itself out. Similar to what @krv is seeing.

First off, I second the massive kudos to Brian. You rock.

I think that the running total is less useful. If you look in the Netatmo app, they do an accumulation for the day. This is the number I think would be most valuable on a dashboard. You could also argue that the rate would be nice. Last night it was raining pretty hard. When I checked the Netatmo app around dinner time, it had accumulated 0.30 inches for the day, and it was raining. 0.06 inches per hour. Either of those would be valuable, in a perfect world, I could choose which one I wanted to show. Thanks again Brian. If history is any indicator, you will bang out a great update in 20 minutes and then ST will publish it 2-3 months later.

I think you mean the last 24 hours. thats what they show accumulation for the previous 24 hours from the time you are looking at the app. I sent Brian some good data in a PM and I think Accumulation and Rate/Hr is the best, and quite possibly the only, option at this point.

Brian does rock!

I have updated code that will include past hour and past day measurements. Also, it will allow choosing inches vs millimeters. I haven’t submitted it yet as the tiles will almost never show anything other than 0 (especially if you prefer inches). I sent a couple of questions to my contacts as SmartThings to see if there are better options out there.

Does STs force rounding to no decimals? Rain should really be shown in decimals honestly. Since even 0.1mm means an additonal 100,000 litres in volume of rain has fallen over a kilometer the difference between 1mm and 0.1 mm of rain is 900,000 litres, or for us non metric peeps… 237,754.847 gallons.

In rain fall the decimal is very important. lol

Not sure if this is the case on iOS, but the updated Android app is showing decimal values. Does anyone else see that?

Very interesteing…

Not seeing it on the iOS side

@Dianoga

Any idea when your fix for the rain gauge will go live? Its rain season here and having it not working in STs is making my brain hurt lol.

I was just able to verify that rain is showing decimals. The updates have been submitted for publishing.

So now that the rain gauge is working… any chance of getting the Netatmo thermostat working? hehehe… (said he knowing he’s just a pita…)
