My SmartThings App wont open the Z-Wave Utilities

Long story short, my ST network went belly up on me and I need to add back all my devices. When I go to HUB / SETTINGS / Z-WAVE UTILITIES (is there another way to get there?) nothing happens when I click the Utilities entry. No error, no movement, nothing. It simply does not function for me.

I am needing to get Exclude function and I don’t know any other way..

I am on Android, I use version 1.8.34.21 but I am stuck. I have looked through the app and do not see any other mention of Excluding devices. The devices do not show up in my SmartThings app, but I understand that I can perform a reset on most of them by ‘pressing this button’ while the app is in exclusion mode. I just can’t get there to try it.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

click on the hub name and at the top of the screen, there should be a z-wave exclusion tab.

I am sorry, but I don’t have that.. or I just don’t see it? I click on the name, but nothing happens. I can click on the 3 dots just to the right of the name, but that’s what I have been doing so far..

Whatever I am clicking on, the hub name or the Z-Wave Utilities verbiage, they seem to just be labels and not clickable.

To make things worse, here is what I get when I click the link you posted..

I do appreciate the help, but this is getting frustrating.

the clicking on the name and looking for z-wave exclsuion only applies to the link i provided. That does not apply to the app.

for the error, here are some suggestions to try:

  • use a different browser
  • try using a private browsing tab
  • disable any adware/browser extensions
  • use a desktop browser if you were trying it from your phone

Can you describe what belly up means? Did reset your hub? Have you reached out to Support in the app?

When I said Belly Up, I had an issue with all LAN devices on my home network. Nothing worked through any ethernet connection anywhere. It took me a couple of days to get it all straightened out. I could connect via WIFI just fine so I wasn’t dead in the water. I don’t know what caused it but resetting everything from scratch seemed to fix it. A nasty virus of some kind maybe?

A day or so later I tried to control a device from my phone and noticed that ALL my devices were offline. Whatever corrupted my ethernet network took out my SmartThings stuff too. The hub was connected via ethernet, but this time it’s WIFI. I tried everything I could think of but ended up having to factory reset my hub. It was late at night and I didn’t think about excluding my devices until it was too late. Lesson learned.

As for the link you provided.. I opened an Incognito window in Chrome and it worked. I logged in and see my hub and the few devices I managed to add back, but I still do not see anything about exclusions..

Clicking the Setup icon opens but only lets me edit the name of the hub, delete the hub, and assign what room its in. Nothing else.

What am I missing?

My first thought is to reset the hub again to see if all the controls that are missing do in fact return. But if you don’t want give that a try… reach out to ST support and let them investigate.

The screenshot you provided seems to be from the SmartThings dashboard available via the web, normally intended for controlling devices, not necessarily for managing device settings:

As suggested above, try accessing the page for your hub via the SmartThings Advanced web app at:

https://my.smartthings.com/advanced/hubs

https://my.smartthings.com/advanced/hubs

On the resulting page, click on the name of your hub. Z-Wave Exclusion should be at the top of that next page.
