Sorry if this has already been cover in previous posts but I am new to Smartthings and I am looking for some help in setting up Automation.
I have Smartthings motion sensors and I have 2 x Innr Dimmable bulbs. I have the 2 x bulbs in the hall and 1st floor landing and the sensor covering the area.
Scenario 1 - I would like the 2 x bulbs to be turned on by motion and then if there is no more motion then turn off after 2 minutes. I want the lights to display with 80% illumination. This setting is applied between Sunset and 2300 hrs daily.
Scenario 2 - I want the same as above but i need the lights to reduce the illumination to 5% between 2301 ans sunrise. I am looking to use them as a night light.
I have both scenario’s running in the Smart Lighting Smartapp but the part that is not working is the reduction in the Illumination to 5% in Scenario 2 as it is staying at 80%.
I would like to know if what I am trying to do is possible or not
To confirm, you’ve created two separate automations which are each configured to work within the time ranges listed above? Are they both set up to turn on & set level? Screenshots of each rule would help troubleshoot.
Note that, once they’re working, when motion is detected at 2305 the light will turn on to its previous value of 80% and then dim down to 5%. I’m not sure if there’s another best practice for this, but one way to handle it would be to create another automation that turns them on at 11:02 and dims to 5% then turns back off, that way they’re already set to the nightlight state. You may also be able to slow the ramp rate for the dimmer enough so that it drops to 5% before it’s brightened up all the way, but that might be frustrating the rest of the time.
"Note that, once they’re working, when motion is detected at 2305 the light will turn on to its previous value of 80% and then dim down to 5%" - No when motion is detected at 2305 the light turn on and stays at 80% and does not dim to 5%, this is the problem.
I will try and post the screen shots of the automation for you to see.
I will give the "create another automation that turns them on at 11:02 and dims to 5% then turns back off" a try to see if this works.
