Motion lights on a zwave switch?

In my area slingshots are illegal.
So that leaves cats only. They’re good to for chimney cleaning (put them in a bag and run bag up and down the chimney)

So he wants it to

  1. Turn on with motion if there is motion
  2. Turn on if there is no motion and he wants light outside

I completely understand the use case - for example - I live in the woods its dark as hell I want to see how much snow is outside so I need light - flip switch/hit remote/ask alexa to turn on light - Notice no outside motion yet I still need light.

But that is not what he said. He said he wants to turn it on when he gets home without fumbling for his phone. I’m trying to make a difficult situation easier by simplifying the requirements. Sometimes you have to think “do i really need that?” It would make the project much more simple if it didn’t have to have manual control as well. Wouldn’t you agree?

Were you able to come up with a solution? This is exactly what I am trying to do too. I thought a simple use case but I guess it’s a bit more complicated than I thought. I don’t have the Alexa requirement but would like motion to activate the outside lights but be able to turn on or off at will. I too live in a very wooded area and may want to turn on my lights at night but from my ST app.
