I had a few questions and maybe feature requests for Matter locks in Smartthings.
On occasion I see in the history section of the Smart Lock dashboard, that a specific individual unlocked the door, when different PINs are set up. During my usage I’ve found this to be extremely inconsistent and only happens occasionally. Perhaps, that could be fixed and to add on to it, specifics can be applied. I’m aware in its current state that the SmartThings is aware who and what is unlocking the door, whether its a digital key, a pin, and I’m not 100% sure about this, but fairly certain that its aware who is remotely unlocking it as well.
It would also be nice if some more functionality could be worked into the dashboard, like adding fingerprints and thus the retention of fingerprint information when it comes to routines.
This brings me to my last point, Routines. If the lock can display and understand the different mechanisms that are being used to unlock the device, extra routines can be built on top of this. Perhaps a fingerprint triggers one thing, a digital key triggers another, announcements can be made with a compatible speaker regarding who’s home and so forth.
To be clear some of these do exist, but some separation would be nice. For example if I have any individual set up with a PIN and they also set up their digital key, I can create a routine with them unlocking the door and whether they use their pin or digital key, SmartThings recognizes it and can run a specific routine upon them unlocking the door.
Another thing that would be nice is if these specifics could be added to the history tab, regarding who is unlocking the door. I also have this lock exposed to HomeKit, and as is with SmartThings if a person remotely unlocks the door it says “Unlocked, Unknown user, Remote controls”, it would be nice if it could at least specify that HomeKit is unlocking the door, and not sure if it’s possible but the user’s name (in homekit) itself would be most ideal.
