So we have a Matter based therometer in our server room. I go into my SmartThings app on my phone, scan the code and it just goes into this loop of telling me to do what I just did…
Can I get around this?
I’m assuming you have a SmartThings hub with Thread support and SmartThings is the first platform where you try to add the device, is that right?
You can try not scanning the QR code and instead use the numeric code. Or not scan and let it auto discover it. Or clearing cache in the SmartThings app, sometimes even reboot the phone.
More workarounds, connect it to another platform if you have (let’s say Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa…) and then share it to SmartThings and delete it from the first one if you only want to use it in ST.
Yes, I do have a hub on my desk at work and I am trying to add it to SmartThings on my phone.
I tried the numeric code, I get a completely different message:
I tried clearing cache and rebooting phone…same loop.
I tried Google Home but at work, I do not have a hub…
Is it in pairing mode? This is from Arre / Tuo website:
Remove the battery from the welcome packet and insert into the back of the arre temperature sensor.
When you see the LED blink 5 times, followed by 3 blinks, that means the device is in pairing mode.
Maybe try that while you’re in that screen, or before…
Edit: And just in case, there’s a reset option too:
With the backplate removed, you can push the reset button with a small pin. Push it in once to reboot the device.
Push it in and hold for 10 seconds to completely reset the device. Please note that this will remove the device from the platform you are using and will require re-pairing.
Thanks for all of the help. Sadly, nothing could resolve this. My co-worker was able to get it into HomeKit but it just won’t get into SmartThings.
To add to SmartThings from homekit, open apple home app, select device, settings, turn on pairing mode, copy code, open SmartThings app, add device, partner devices, matter, add without QR code, paste code, next, follow further steps.
