Hey, I’m looking for recommendations for a sensor that can measure temperature (and at best humidity) with an external probe and is able to connect directly to SmartThings. Doesnt matter with or without Edge drivers. Most of the sensors that i found with external probe are “only” talking Wifi.
Not sure I completely understand the request. The part about “only talking wifi” but shelly with add on module and probe would give you that via edge driver into smartthings.
It is wifi but no additional cloud account needed unless wanted. They have a z wave control but add on module isn’t supported, at least not yet.
Thank you for your reply. The problem is that I have only sockets. Or is there a tutorial (with parts list) to connect a power supply to such a thing? Sorry I‘m more a software guy and no electrician
Lots of tutorials and support on their site and reddit. (Installation guides) I am not an electrician either, but if you go with the Shelly 1
( https://www.shelly.com/en-us/products/shop/1xsplus1gen3-us) It can take both 12v or main power from a socket.
Personally I have used old device chargers snipped the end and powered the device. (depending on your use case) Running Temp & Humidity probes would not require a lot of power . The 2 wire cording from an old phone charger plugged into socket would attach to N / L side of shelly 1 device. The probes (DHT22) sensor would install to the “add-on” device with install wiring guide is here (Shelly Plus Add-on) DHT22 sensor gives Temp & Humidity.
