I was able to fix random Hub lock ups by replacing the power supply with a 5 VDC 2 amp USB version. I used a USB cable compatible with the Hub connection to make this work. No lockups now for several days after doing this.
I spent hours trying various things to increase my WIFI signal along with attempts at changing the configuration in the hub itself. This was the only thing that worked.
