Hi there,
I recently bought a SmartThinks Hub and a sensor to create an automation to trigger my lights when there is movement. The problem is that i can’t find my Teckin lights in the supported lights list in the app. Is there a workaround or something like that? I could not find any information on their website.
Are those wifi? If so, then you’ll probably have to wait until ST supports them, or someone in the community writes some custom code to integrate them.
Yes they are Wifi and by default they do not require a Hub. I actually use them with my Google Home and they work just fine. I guess I will have to wait or learn it by myself.
Hi I’m also trying to get my teckin wifi bulbs to appear in the smarttings app. Have you found a way to import them since this post? Maybe you have written custom code yourself? I have a cheap Teckin led strip and that does support Smartthings and was easy to import by connecting via Smart Life . But I’ve had no luck with the bulbs.
In the Smartlife or Tuya apps create seperate “tap-to-run” on and off automations (scenes) for each device you want to use in Smartthings.
In Smartthings run the Tuya integration. Do NOT use the Smartlife integration. (The difference between the Smartlife and Tuya intrigations is that the Tuya integration doesn’t end with an error message. And when you look on linked services the imported scenes are listed under Tuya, unlike Smartlife which is blank.)
When you go back to the main page in Smartthings you will find on and off switchs for each device possibly in No Room Assigned.
They will say they are off line, ignore that for now.
I have been using WebCore with my Smartlife/Tuya devices to overcome the offline issue, and it works good.
I create a virtual switch in Smartthings.
In WebCore I create a piston for each device. The first part of the piston say toggle the “on” scene when the virtual switch is turned “on”. The second part of the piston say toggle the “off” scene when the virtual switch is turned “off”.
I have been using for months with no issues.
FYI: If you open each device in the Smartlife/Tuya app and hit the edit icon it will list the “3rd party controls” that are available for that device.
I have 5 Smartlife devices. They all list Alexa and Google. One lists Tmall Genie (Alibaba smart speaker). None list Smartthings or IFTTT.
But any Smartlife/Tuya automations you create get intergrated with Smartthings.
Hi Paul, Thank you so much for this explanation. I did notice already that Tuya integration did yield a lot of scenes in Smartthings (Smartlife integration nothing indeed, which seems odd because I use smartlife app and not tuya app) but I didn’t think I could make use of them! Now I also contacted smartlife support and they told me only devices that show smartthings integration will show up in Smartthings, and indeed I have 2 lights that have imported without any issue and. As it happens they are also the lights that were added most recent. So maybe it’s going to be less of an issue with future devices. Will try to set something up with these virtuel switches. Thanks again!
