Leviton DZ15S / DZ6HD (Zwave Dimmerd and Switches) stop responding periodically

I have about a dozen DZ15S-1Bz and DZ6HD-1BZ Zwave wall switches installed. In general, they work beautifully. For about 2 years.

However, I have now had 3 of them just stop responding. They are still registered in ST, but I have to factory reset them and re-add them to get them working again. And all the associated trouble to fix broken integrations.

  1. Is there some way to diagnose what happened?

  2. Is there something that can be done to fix this from the ST side? I have tried to rebuild/fix the Zwave mesh, and that doesn’t help.

  3. One of them failed about 9 months ago and I fixed that one. Two others appear to have failed at the same time, about 6 weeks ago. That two went down at the same time leads me to believe that an outside action caused it.

Does anyone know if this is a common problem with these switches? Or am I causing it somehow?

I had issues with my DZ15S and DZ6HD devices falling offline. My problems were resolved by updating the firmware.
