Another update on living with this device for a month or so now . On the whole it’s definitely better than the sonoff presence sensor which regularly got stuck in a. Detected motion state and needed rebooting , the sonoff device just became unusable for me .
I was away from the house for a few days and the Lafaer device went offline , it didn’t go back online till I held in pairing button, I’m hoping this isn’t a regular occurrence
All good here, works great, mine went offline when I set up with homekit and then shared to ST. I reset and joined to ST first, no problems since.
I was wondering if it’s like the IKEA tradfri motion sensor where it goes to sleep if it has no events for x hours. However mine didn’t come back until I pushed the hardware button on the device
Another update of performance and usage, this time after 2 months.
Last night the lwr01 got stuck in a “motion” detected state despite the room being empty for a hour. I tried various attempts to clear it
1 pushed the power button
2 forced it offline by taking batteries out
3 tweaking the settings via the Lafaer app
None of this had any effect, so I deleted the device and re added it to SmartThings.
About a week ago I did try the “Ai” config for the sensor to see if it improved range or detection speed, I wonder did this make it less stable.
I’m back on dumb config for now.
I’ve been using the LWR01 presence sensor for about three weeks now. So far, I haven’t experienced any false positives or cases where detection got stuck in the ‘detected’ state. For me, the device has been flawless. It’s installed in a busy hallway and connected via cable. I’ve tested the AI functions as well as some of the parameters in the app, and everything has worked smoothly. I also own the FP300, but whenever I have a nearby and discreet power outlet, it’s obvious to me that avoiding battery management is the better option.
The purpose of my post is not to contradict anyone, but simply to share my own experience with this model.
I have mine on battery power, so it’s not in “performance” mode. Dunno if that makes a difference
