Kasa KP115 Direct Integration with Edge Drivers Mar 2026

I have been searching for hours now, I know this has been solved, and I even recall commenting on it but can’t find the info.

I have four Kasa KP115 energy monitoring smart plugs. I had them directly connected to Smartthings so I could use the energy monitoring functions that are unavailable in the cloud integration. All has been running great for a couple of years. After a recent power outage, two of them have dropped their direct connection, though they are still connected to Kasa’s cloud app. My other two are still directly connected.

I can’t for the life of me figure out how to reconnect them directly to Smartthings.

  1. They don’t appear under Add Device→Scan Nearby.
  2. I tried resetting one of the devices, adding it to the Kasa app, then searching nearby in the Smartthings app, but that also did not work.

I am ready to chuck them in the trash due to frustration. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to try next.

Maybe they got a forced firmware update? I believe modern firmwares were not supported by any edge driver since they changed the protocol.

That could be it, but why 2 of 4?
