I’m migrating from the V1 hub to v2 and have been successful in pairing everything except most of my Cree Connected bulbs. I have 2 bulbs that paired miraculously and a Peanut. They all reliably respond to commands. I’m very familiar with the reset sequence and can get the bulbs to flicker like a champ. I’ve tried resetting the bulbs before and during the pairing attempt from the hub’s perspective in man y combinations. Here’s what I’ve done so far:
Tried to pair old bulbs in original locations - fail
Tried to pair old bulbs immediately next to the v2 hub - fail
Reset the hub and tried again - fail
Bought 2 new Cree Connected bulbs and tried to pair them just inches away - fail
Shut off wi-fi and tried to pair new bulb - fail
Shut off wifi and tried to pair old bulbs - fail
Wrapped a clip lamp and hub in an aluminum foil tent - fail (I now feel like a crazy person)
Ran a 75 yard network cable out to the garage to try to pair the new and old bulbs there - fail
Tried to pair old and new bulbs to V1 hub - fail (very weird)
Is there any way to run diagnostic on zigbee?
Am I living in some weird electro-magnetic environment?
Called the support phone number and was instructed to send email - did that. No response so far.
Any thought or suggestions? I would GREATLY appreciate any help!
Since this is the definitive Cree Connect bulb thread, I wanted to share my experience and solution:
SUCCESS!!!
I can’t prove it, but consider me a believer in the Zigbee interference from the itron power meter theory.
After taking a look at the likely positioning of power meters in the immediate vicinity, I figured it was worth a shot to try and pair the bulbs out in my front yard. Using a long extension cord and network cable, I also put the bulb in a metal clamp light, sat the hub directly on top and then wrapped the whole thing in aluminum foil. It didn’t work every time, but it worked most of the time.
The neighbors must think I’ve lost it. Jiffypop anyone?
Had a power issue in the house recently that forced me to turn off my breakers repeatedly over the span of a couple hours to track down. That process whacked out nearly all my Cree bulbs. They did not go ‘missing’ in ST, but they were unresponsive.
The following worked for me to restore their ST functionality - and their corresponding Alexa/ST functionality. It is similar to the ‘reset’ that you use to pair bulbs.
A) power one bulb off for two seconds, on for two seconds.
B) Repeat that on/off cycling five times.
C) go to My Home - Things and + Add a Thing.
D) turn on the bulb in question.
The bulb will not show up as a new thing - but it will work at that point.
Go back to the Things screen and check it out. Use ST to turn it off, turn it back on, dim it.
